<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Jet carburetor with air throttle and float bowl adjustment.
The present description relates to this kind of carburettors in which fuel is sucked from a lower tank into the tank. float, by the vacuum produced in a diffuser placed in the mixing chamber, and is brought to the main nozzle by the greater negative pressure produced by an auxiliary diffuser also located in this mixing chamber. Known carburettors of this kind can be improved from the point of view of the magnitude of the vacuum which is obtained in the float vessel and automatically draws the fuel out of the tank.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
For this purpose, the following carburetor. The present invention comprises two auxiliary diffusers, in the neck of one of which the duct for connecting to the air space of the float tank opens, while the other auxiliary diffuser, which produces a greater depression, surrounds the nozzle orifice. The vacuum is considerably greater in the auxiliary diffuser than in the main diffuser, so that this is achieved. an increase in the vacuum in the float tank.
In order to obtain sufficient braking of the foaming air admitted when the air supply is fully open, when the air supply is used, if necessary, increase the pressure in the fuel inlet pipe at the nozzle, the vacuum at the inlet of the foam concentrate air intake pipe will also be increased by means of a diffuser.
The accompanying drawing shows in section, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the present carburetor. -
Between the main diffuser c and the auxiliary diffuser d is interposed an auxiliary diffuser d1, into the neck of which the pipe 1 connected to the air chamber ± of the float tank opens out. There, the vacuum is considerably greater than in the diffuser neck c, so that a relatively increased vacuum is obtained in the float vessel for the automatic suction of fuel from the tank.
The output of the fuel through the nozzle i is caused in the known manner by the auxiliary diffuser d.One can naturally think that it would be possible to insert the. likewise yet another auxiliary diffuser, thereby obtaining a further increase in pressure in the float vessel.
As a relatively stronger depression then exists
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
in the pipe to the nozzle, it is also necessary to increase the depression at the orifice n of the foaming air pipe, so that, due to too great a difference in pressure, it does not follow insufficient braking of the air intake to the jet k when the engine running at high speed and the valve 2 being fully open, the entire air passage section is open. For this purpose, a diffuser 4 is placed in the auxiliary air chamber 1 to increase the speed of the air at the orifice n of the foaming air pipe m, so as to produce there also a greater depression and to thus cause the necessary braking of the entry of air into the foaming air pipe m.
When the engine runs slower and the valve 2 is closed, the diffuser 4 remains inactive, since no air current then reigns in the auxiliary air chamber 1. it can then enter freely through the pipe. m, in the pipe k of the nozzle, as much air as is necessary to reduce the flow of fuel - since the nozzle 1, in a manner corresponding to the reduction of the air passage section.
