"Process for preserving wool, fur, hair and the like against textile pests"
It has been found that complex organic compounds of borofluoride with organic acids, such as: - acetic acid, formic acid and the like - as described on page 250 of Volume 455 of the "Annalen der Chemie "give wool, furs, hair, hair and the like an excellent guarantee.

against textile parasites, for example against moths.
Owing to their acidic components, these complex compounds offer, over other borofluoride derivatives, the particular advantage of being endowed with a superior affinity for animal fiber; this avoids having to perform rinsing or leaching. They differ from acidic inorganic salts, - ammonium bifluoride for example - by the fact that there is no damage or deterioration of the textile fiber in the delicate material, it follows that for example wool retains its softness in the job.
EXAMPLE:
100 kg of wool is treated dry or wet with 2% potassium borofluoroacetate, hot or cold, with or without addition of salts or inorganic or organic acids, then being able to use respectively as solvent and as a diluent, water or organic solvents, such as alcohol or acetone. One can carry out the dry treatment, for example in a refining or purification tank and the wet treatment either in a dye bath, or by having recourse to the process of soaking or watering, as permitted. the material treated or

manufacturing.
The article thus treated is guaranteed ue eminently against pests of textiles against moths for example.
Instead of borofluoroacetic acid. borofluoroformic acid can also be used. Likewise, derivatives of these products can also be used, such as: borofluorochloroacetic acid.
