 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 soufre est de 0,78 %.

    PATENT OF INVENTION Process for the production of sulphurous products forming colloidal solutions with water
 EMI1.1
 eTeseeeereeeeeeoereooreerrreerrw
It is known to heat mixtures of sulfur and sugar to the point of fusion and to subject the molten material after cooling to washing in water, which makes it possible after filtering and with the evolution of hydro - sulfur gene, finely divided sulfur.

   Now, it has been found that by heating sulfur with sugar and starch to the melting point with the injection of air, and by cooling the molten material, after washing the molten mass in water of materials, which in pure water form colloidal solutions. xample. - 1 kgr. of sulfur is intimately mixed with 4 kgrs. of sugar and 1 kgr. of starch flour or starch and heated in a cool container with air injection on a moderate fire. The introduction of air is essential in order to prevent the formation of carbon sulfur.

   At a temperature of 1600 0 the molten mass is removed from the heat, and it is poured, after a slight cooling, sar

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 The cooled mass is broken into small pieces and washed in 30 liters of water. Water soluble material in the colloid state then separates and can be removed from the liquid. aqueous and seoeas.

   The products prepared by this process contain, besides large amounts of colloidal sulfur, molecular sulfurous organic combinations in the form of water-soluble oils.

   These oils are reddish brown and almost completely soluble in water, as well as in 96% alcohol.

  Their aqueous solution gives an acid reaction with phenolphthalein and sunflower and a neutral reaction with methyl organs.

   The oils have been recognized as being a mixture of several organic sulphurous combinations, which can be separated from each other by vacuum distillation. However, much of it is not volatile, does not distill and decompose at high temperature.

   The distillates are oily liquids of a yellowish brown to dark red, which themselves form mixtures. Small amounts of crystallizing combinations have been successfully separated from these liquids.

   By vacuum distillation of these oils, after drying, we obtained:
1. Fraction: the part (about 2%) boiling to 27 0 under a pressure of 14 mm. is a yellowish-brown syrupy substance, from which, after prolonged standing, needle-shaped crystals separate.

   2. Fraotion; the part (about 18%) boiling from 28 to 33 0 under a pressure of 14 mm. is a clear, yellow liquid with low mobility, the content of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 sulfur is 0.78%.

   3. Fraction the part (about 40%) boiling from 34 to 170 0 under a pressure of 14 mm. and the main part of which boils between 145 and 170 0, is an oily liquid of a dark red, from which, after a certain rest, small quantities of solid bodies separate. The sulfur content is 1.02%.

   4. Fraction: the part (approximately 4%) boiling above 1700 0 under a pressure of 14 mm. is a syrupy, reddish-brown oil with a sulfur content of approximately 1.02%.

   5. Residue: (about 36%). It is solid, black and as a result of carbonous decomposition and decomposed for the most part. The sulfur content is 2.1%.

   The products do not give off hydrogen sulphide.

   The new product can be used either in the molten state or after being stripped of the sugar mass in the dry powder state. The use can take place with additions.

  Thanks to the large amount of sulfur, which is concentrated in an extremely divided state in organic materials, the new product is suitable for indoor and outdoor treatment in the fields of medicine, balneology and cosmetic treatments. . The small amount of organic sulphides contained in the product, in addition, in combination with other materials, results in the formation of bodies rich in vitamins. But also for technical uses, such as for example the preparation of ointments, soaps, products to be added to the bath, products for combating house insects and the like, the field of application is unlimited.
