 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   Fig. 2 en est une coupe diamétrale.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Heat recovery cover for stoves.

   This invention relates to perforated lids for stoves, which make it possible to recover heat by supplying the imperfectly burnt gases of the hearth with additional air, drawn through the perforations of the lid and mixed with the gases to complete the combustion of these. this.

   Heat recovery covers of this kind are usually made of a perforated cast iron plate, bearing on its underside baffles, ribs or any other device intended to promote the mixing of the gases with the make-up air. The whole is both heavy and fragile by the very nature of the cast iron, while due to the thickness of the latter the transmission of heat through the cover takes place under poor conditions. .

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The present invention relates to a heat recovery cover from which efforts have been made to eliminate these defects and which, with a higher efficiency, has the advantage of being more solid, more manageable and less expensive than those known until now. 'here. Consisting of a hollow body made of sheet steel, the cover according to the invention has a spiral-shaped combustion chamber inside, in which the gas from the hearth and the make-up air admitted respectively by perforations of the lower and upper walls, mix and burn while swirling under the effect of the draft to which a lateral exhaust opening oriented towards the stove chimney is subjected.

   Thanks to the use of sheet steel for the manufacture of the hollow cover, the latter can be of light construction while having a resistance to fire and to shocks infinitely greater than that of cast iron, while the arrangement an internal combustion chamber and the spiral arrangement of this chamber ensure the best conditions for mixing the gases with air and their complete combustion.

   In order for the invention to be fully understood, two embodiments thereof shown by way of example in the appended drawing in which:
Fig. 1 shows a top view of a heat recovery cover according to the invention.

   Fig. 2 is a diametral section.

   Fig. 3 shows the cover from below, and
Fig. 4 is a diametrical section of an alternative embodiment.

   In the example of Figs. 1 to 3, the cover comprises a sheet steel disc 1 under which is fixed by @ ,, welding, riveting or otherwise, a stamped bottom 2, also in

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 sheet steel, which completes the hollow body, the interior of which constitutes the combustion chamber 3 of the cover. The spiral shape of this chamber 3 is given to it by a spiral partition 4, made of a strip of sheet steel suitably wound and fixed on the field in the hollow body. At the outer end of the spiral, the chamber 3 has a discharge opening 5, drilled laterally in the edge of the bottom 2.

   When the cover is placed on a lit stove, it is oriented so that this opening 5, to which an arrow 6 corresponds on the disc 1, is directed towards the chimney of the stove. The draft thus caused in the chamber 3 calls inside it, through perforations 7 of the bottom 2, the gases rising from the hearth, and through perforations 8 of the disc 1, the air necessary to burn these gases. during their spiral path towards the discharge opening 5.

   It is easily understood that by modifying the orientation of the opening 5, that is to say by turning the cover to place the arrow 6 more or less directly opposite the chimney of the stove, it is possible to adjust the intensity of the draft in the cover and consequently the intensity of the combustion of the recovered gases. The cover can be operated for example by means of a removable handle engaged in a hole 9 of the disc 1, on the side opposite to the arrow 6.

   In the second exemplary embodiment, shown in FIG. 2, the collecting cover takes the form of a plate or stove round, the disc 1 being in this case provided with a flanged rim 1a and a fixed handle 10.

   Of course, the invention is not limited to the details of execution described and shown by way of example, and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto.
