<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
La fonctionnement est le suivant: Lorsque la benne est montée fermée, le tambour 1 est entraîné par le moteur suivant le sens de la flèche fl (figures 2 et 3). Le ta- quet 7 étant en contact avec la face gauche (figure 3) du taquet 8, du tambour 2, ce tambour 2 se trouve entraîné à la même vitesse dans le même sens f1 que le tambour 1;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a winch with two drums for the operation of all automatic buckets and in particular buckets for digging wells.
This winch is remarkable, in particular, in that the perimeter of the opening and closing drums is equal to the development of the cable necessary to close or open the bucket and a mechanical connection device is provided between the two drums, this mechanism being such that the relative rotational movement of the two drums is limited to one revolution,
According to one embodiment, the connection device comprises in combination:
a cleat carried by one of the lateral faces of the closing and lifting drum, a cleat carried by the lateral face facing the opening drum, this cleat being arranged so as to be met by the cleat of the closing drum ,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
and an oscillating latch capable of being erased with the aid of an operating device, this latch being arranged so as to hold the latch of the closing drum against the latch of the opening drum when said latch has come into contact with the latch. first at the end of the hopper opening.
In the accompanying drawing, given only by way of example: FIG. 1 is a schematic side view of a winch according to the invention; Figure 3 is a plan view; FIG. 3 is a schematic view of the connecting mechanism between the two drums; Figures 4 and 5 show, on a larger scale, the detail of the attachment to the bottom of the frame of the winch of the members of the sheer carrying return pulleys ,,
According to the example of execution shown, the winch is composed of two drums: a drum 1, serving for the cable for closing and lifting the bucket and the other drum 2 for winding the opening cable and bucket retainer. This winch has been designed to perform the very rapid maneuvers which are necessary for this type of installation.
Drums 1 and 2 turn idle on a shaft 3 which is itself supported by two flanges 4 and 5, Drum 1 is driven by a known means (friction, gears, electric motor, gasoline or other) .
The diameters of drums 1 and 2 are similar, Drum 2 the opening and retaining carries a brake ring 6. The diameter of the closing and lifting drum is such that one revolution of this drum is sufficient to - ensure the full closing or opening of the skip.
A mechanical device connects the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
two drums 1 and 2 when the bucket is open, and performs the opening drum drive 2 When the bucket is raised closed. This arrangement can be implemented as follows (FIG. 3).
The closing and lifting drum 1 carries a drive lug 7. The opening drum 2 itself carries a similar latch 8. In addition, this drum 2 also carries a pawl 9 biased by a spring 10 which is arranged so as to lock the cleat 7 of the drum 1 and make the drums 1 and 2 integral at will.
A pedal control device 11 oscillating in
12, or other, which can be arranged according to Figure 3, allows the latch 9 to be raised by means of a boss 9a of this latch and to release the latch 7 and make the two drums 1 and 2 independent,
Another characteristic of this winch is that it does not include a brake on the drum 1 for closing the bucket, this drum simply carrying the lifting control device.
The winch can be controlled either by friction or in any other known way. By way of example, FIGS. 1 and 2 show a friction device. The drum 1 comprises a friction ring 20 actuated by a roller 21 mounted on an oscillating member 22 also carrying a pulley 23 connected by a belt 24. to a motor not shown, the member 22 is controlled by a cam 25 and oscillates slightly in order to put the roller 21 in contact with the crown 20 and to remove it,
The cam 25 is fixed to a shaft 26 carrying yet another cam 27 which can be brought into contact with the brake crown 6-. The shaft 26 and operated by a lever 28.
Thus, if one wishes to thunder the drum l, one raises or lowers the lever 28 which puts the roller 21 in contact with the crown 20 and moves the cam 27 away from the brake @
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
6. If one wishes to brake the drum 2, one acts on the lever 28 in an opposite direction, which brings the cam
27 in contact with the brake 6 and releases the drum 1.
The operation is as follows: When the bucket is mounted closed, the drum 1 is driven by the motor in the direction of the arrow fl (Figures 2 and 3). The tab 7 being in contact with the left face (FIG. 3) of the tab 8, of the drum 2, this drum 2 is driven at the same speed in the same direction f1 as the drum 1;
it winds up the opening cable 13 (figure 2) at the same speed as the drum 1 winds up the lifting cable 14, which at this moment is supporting the weight of the skip,
When the bucket has reached the top of the stroke, the drum 2 is braked while the drum 1 is released, Immediately, for example under Inaction of the sliding central piston contained in the bucket, the bucket opens, printing to the drum 1 a movement opposite to that of arrow f1, that is to say in the direction of arrow f2 (Figure 3).
When the drum 1 has made a turn, the bucket is fully open and the cleat 7 comes back into contact this time with the right face (figure 3) of the cleat 8. Passing the cleat 7 raised the pawl 9 which returned by the spring 10 goes behind this cleat 7 and immobilizes it ..
The two drums 1 and 2 are integral.
The bucket being open and emptied, if the brake of the opening drum 2 is released, this drum under the action of the cable 13 is driven into the bottom of the arrow f2. The closing drum 1 which is integral with the drum 2 is also driven and the cable 14 is consequently unwound from the drum, without it being necessary for it to pull itself on this drum; the body can therefore be lowered open very quickly, almost in free fall, if necessary.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The cable 14 being unwound from the drum 1 without it being necessary for it to operate a traction on this drum, it is therefore not possible for the bucket to close again during its descent, given that the piston biased by speed , and having quite simply to cause the slack of the cable, that is to say with an insignificant effort cannot go up and consequently the bucket does not close, which is an extremely interesting point to allow very fast maneuvers.
Another advantage of this device is the following: When the bucket is opened, the drum 1 aoquiert under the traction of the cable caused by the bucket piston, a certain live power which would cause an untimely unwinding of the bucket. cable 13. However, with the system described above, this course is not to be ordered, oar as soon as the bucket is fully open, the movement of the drum 1 is stopped by the stop of the cleat 7 on the cleat 8. When the bucket has reached the gripping point, the drum brake 2 is completely released, the motor is started in the closing direction.
At the same time we press on the pedals 11 erasing the latch 9, The drum 1 being free, makes a turn, allowing the bucket to be closed, When the bucket is completely closed, the latch 7 coming back into contact with the left face of cleat 8, drives drum 2.
There is therefore no traction of the cable 13 during the closing of the bucket, prejudicial to a good depression of this bucket in the goods, no more than there is to fear that the opening drum 8 does not leave with a certain delay on the closing drum 1 which would give slack to the cable 13 and interfere with its proper winding on the drum.
By making a careful adjustment of the reach of the cleats it is possible to ensure that the bucket is raised simultaneously @
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
by the cable 13 which is extremely interesting because the two cables thus distribute the force which can be quite important, at the moment of the separation of the bucket, if one takes into account that the speed of lifting of a such a winch must be extremely fast, and because there is no risk of the bucket twisting, since it is held in two different points.
Another advantage of this hoist when used with well digging buckets is that it allows, if the ground is very hard, to raise the open bucket and let it fall several times in the same place to break the ground. . In this case, it suffices not to act on the control releasing the latch 9,
When the engine is drunk, the drum 1 via the latch 9 drives the drum 2 and the bucket is lifted by the cable 13. When the cutting operation has been carried out the necessary number of times. by activating the ling control t 9, the latter releases the drum 1.
The bucket is closed and then reassembled as described above, removing the spoil.
As already stated, the hoist described, which is primarily intended for use with well digging or earthmoving buckets, must be as light as possible to facilitate its handling and transport to the work.
In addition, it must be able to withstand the force required to lift the bucket. As it is difficult to anchor it, a sheer pole 15 (figure 1) composed of three or four masts (for example made up of tubes) has two of its masts fixed in some way at 16 (figure 1) on the part front of the frame making up the winch. For e xample if the frame members are in U irons 17 (figures 4 and 5) these frames each have oval shaped holes 18 in which the tubes 15 are placed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
forming masts. Cleats or bolts 19 hold the tubes to the U-bars.
As the sheer carries in its upper part the two pulleys 17, necessary for the return of the closing cables 14 and the opening cable 13, the traction operated by these cables between the drums 1 and 2 of the winch and the pulleys 17 are found canceled due to the arrangement of the frames 15 of the sheer and the winch cannot be lifted,
This arrangement also offers the advantage of leaving the assembly a certain elasticity. The weight of the winch acts on the sheers 15 according to the lever arm k (figure 1) with respect to the fixing point 16 of the sheer tubes. on the frame of this winch, When the work is normal, the weight of the winch acting according to the lever arm k is sufficient to keep the winch firmly on the ground.
however, if, as a result of a wrong maneuver by the driver, there is an abnormal force on the cables, the winch pivots around the point of contact of the U-shaped bars placed on the ground and the stops 19 of the frames of the sheer on these U-shaped irons, said winch being counterweight with its mass,
This arrangement considerably dampens shocks and prevents cable breaks, or other accidents,
Of course, the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment shown and described which has been chosen only by way of example.
