 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Elastic saddle support.

   The present invention refers to bicycles and relates to an elastic saddle support, capable of being mounted directly on the frame of the bicycle, instead of the ordinary support, and of receiving the saddle directly without any transformation of the latter. .

   Essentially, the support according to the invention comprises a rigid connecting piece and the support proper.

  The connecting piece is formed by a tail to be engaged in or on the tube of the frame of the bicycle (or in the rear connection of the frame), and of a head to which the support of the saddle itself is connected. . The latter is formed of an arm or rigid tube, to which the saddle is fixed by the usual fixing means; this arm is made integral, by a curved end, with a set of leaf spring, so as to form a substantially U-shaped assembly. The longest leaf spring is bolted to the rigid connecting piece, in the head of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 which it is silted, so that 1'C formed by the support itself has its two substantially horizontal branches and its base facing the handlebars.

   The head of the connecting piece further includes a stopper to limit the upward movement of the large leaf spring. The support itself can be adjusted longitudinally with respect to the connecting piece, and the length of this support is itself adjustable.

   The object of the invention is shown in a preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawing by way of example, in which: fig.l is a schematic view of the upper rear part of the frame, provided with the new saddle support , fig.2 is a view of the rigid connecting piece, in the position shown in fig.l, but on a larger scale, fig.3 is the corresponding profile view, fig4 shows the support itself, in the posi - tion which it occupies in fig.l, but on a larger scale, fig. 5 is the plan view from above, FIG. 6 is a vertical section along A-B of fig.l.

   1 and 2 respectively designate the two frame tubes, joined at the rear, under the saddle, by the usual connector 3.

  The rigid connecting piece is formed of a tubular or solid piece 4, engaging exactly in the tube 2 and surmounted by a head formed by a base plate 5 with vertical edges 6. The part 4 being engaged in the tube 2, the base 5 of the head comes to rest against the tube 1 (or the upper edge of the fittings.) And the angle formed between this head and the part 4 is such that the head then occupies a horizontal position. tale, as shown in fig.l.

   The support itself consists of a rod or tube 7, one end of which is curved and ends in a flat @ parallel to the tube 7. This flat is secured to a rectangular eyelet 9 which is perpendicular to it, and in which pass three (or more) straight leaf springs 10 - 11 - 12

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 superimposed. These blades all three extend under the plate 8, and they are attached to it by a bolt 13, which passes through a hole made in the plate and in each of the spring leaves.

  The lower blade, the longer one, has several holes for the passage of this bolt, or, as shown in fig.5, an elongated slot 14, which makes it possible to adjust the active length of the support. At its other end, the lower blade rests on the head 5, to which it is connected by a bolt 15 passing through a hole in this head and a hole in the blade 12. In order to allow longitudinal adjustment of this blade @ and therefore of the support itself) relative to the connecting piece, there is also provided, at this end, several holes or an elongated slot 16.

   The saddle, indicated schematically by 17 in fig.l, is fixed to the part 7 by the usual means and organs.

   In order to limit the upward reaction movements of the blade 12, the edges 6 of the head have two ears 18 supporting a rod 19 under which this blade 12 is passed.
