The term "rubber and the like" as used above includes natural rubber and synthetic products whose constitution and properties are similar to natural rubber, for example, the polymerization products of the hydrocarbons of the series. butadiene, such as butadiene itself or isoprene.
These dyes are suitable for different hot and cold vulcanization methods. They are insoluble in gasoline, do not exude into the rubber during processing, do not effloresce and are susceptible to storage. Especially as regards the absence of exudation in the white rubber, they clearly surpass the dyes described in the French patent? 759,763 dated August 17, 1933 in the name of the Claimant.

For coloring rubber products and other high molecular weight organic and plastic products in blue and purple shades with good fastness properties, only the disazo dyes described in certificate of addition N 43,649 dated June 29, 1933, to French patent N 731,743 in the name of the Applicant. The possibility of obtaining the same good fastness properties by means of monoazo dyes constitutes a considerable industrial advance, since the monoazo dyes can be prepared on an industrial scale with greater certainty in a uniform manner, which guarantees the valuable properties of colors.
