 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  Voltage-dependent resistance system for controlling regulators.

   In the. systems. voltage dependent resistor, such as a blocking circuit with an iron inductor, which is connected in series with a useful load (regulating motor, relay, etc.), the voltage-current characteristic takes in the vicinity of the nominal voltage is approximately linear. If the passing current of the device is used, for example, to supply a two-phase adjustment motor, the auxiliary phase of which is excited in an extraneous manner, the torque also rises in proportion to the voltage variation. The motor therefore starts when this moment is equal to the moment of resistance of the device. The operating sensitivity of the device is therefore strongly influenced by the variable mechanical resistance of the adjustment device.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   In the case of an adjustment without stepping, this disadvantage is of little importance. It is possible, by increasing the slope of the characteristic, to raise the sensitivity of the device so that the variations in sensitivity remain within an allowable precision tolerance.

   When, however, such a mounting device is used for actuating a step switch of a tap-connector transformer, the conditions are fundamentally different. here, in fact, the adjustment arrangement must have a wide rest zone, corresponding to at least half of the staging range, in which the regulator does not operate reliably, because otherwise it would oscillate.

  Immediately after passing this zone, the operation of the regulator should start clearly.

   This is obtained according to the present invention by the fact that the voltage-sensitive resistance system is established in such a way that its voltage-current characteristic presents for the nominal voltage a saddle-shaped zone.

  As a result, the sensitivity of the adjustment device receives a fixed value, for example + 1%. The invention is explained below; using drawing.

   In the diagram of fig. 1, U has denoted the current-voltage characteristic of a blocking circuit having the capacitance C and the iron inductance L. According to the present invention, we place in this blocking circuit, in the branch of capacity of which, according to fig. 2, in order to eliminate the upper harmonics of the passing current for the payload M, an auxiliary inductance Ln, a small iron inductor D, -pat example with a nickel-iron core, in series , and chosen in such a way that for the half-range voltage of the rest zone (U), it is saturated.

   This current-voltage characteristic E = f Ci) is superimposed on the characteristic of the blocking circuit U = f (J),

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 as shown in fig. 1, to give the resulting characteristic Ures = f (J).

   To increase the slope of the characteristic, it is advantageous to further add to the current-voltage characteristic a capacitive voltage drop E '= f (J). This is done, according to fig. 3, by inserting a capacitor K whose influence produces in the diagram of FIG. 1 the resulting characteristic U'res.

     As the capacitor K must be relatively large, it is recommended to connect it via a current transformer S, as can be seen in fig. 4. It is also advantageously possible to provide in Le. secondary circuit ,, again a resistor R for the damping of this circuit, given that in the case of a strong rise in voltage and decreasing inductivity of the transformer, K can come into resonance with S.

   So that finally the iron-nickel inductor is not already saturated with zero current, it is advantageous to provide it with a small air gap. In addition, we will locate, as we have already indicated, at least the third harmonic by the auxiliary inductance: Ln on the blocking circuit, because otherwise it is to be feared that the zero current already produces a ' saturation of inductance D.
