<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
@

"A rotary reproducing method and apparatus producing partly identical and partly alternate reproductions".
The present invention relates to a method and rotary reproducing apparatus for producing reproductions from an original in reverse writing, the lines of which are arranged in the direction of rotation of the printing drum, on sheets or the like which have been previously moistened with the printing drum. using a rapidly evaporating liquid.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the invention consists in being able to produce, in one operating pass and from the same original of reverse writing, partially identical reprints and of partially variable content. The need for such reproductions arises, for example, in the preparation for manufacturing of tooling parts for machines or the like, which have to go through different processing processes.
In this case, several work instructions are necessary, each of which has a heading which always remains the same and which contains, for example, the designation of the machine, the order number, the designation of the tool part even, the materials, etc. , however that the variable text can consist either in the designation of the workshop (forging, turning, milling, etc.), the kind of work, the tolerances, etc.
The new method consists in that the reprinting is carried out in two different places of the printing drum, and in particular in a place such that the text of the original remaining identical is transferred onto a plurality of the sheets to be printed, and that, by against, in any other place, in such a way that on each sheet to be printed comes another ever-changing part of the original.
The rotary reproducing apparatus for practicing the new method is actually characterized by two printing accessories which are adjustable independently of each other, parallel to the axis of the printing drum, and these accessories can be fixed, with respect to this drum, in each desired printing position. Each of the two printing accessories can be constituted in a known manner, either of a moistening device with a counter-pressure roller, or, in combination with these elements, the accessory may further include a feed table.
However, you can also use a single feed table, which can be coupled, as required, with one or the other

.a .v v 0 all of the accessories. It is advantageous to have / two printing accessories, so as to be able to slide parallel to the axis of the printing drum, on one or more common bars or rails, and to make these bars adjustable, in a known manner, both automatically to the intervention of the printing drum, only by manual operations. The adjustment of the accessory reprinting the changing text can still be done automatically, so as to correspond to the lines or paragraphs, and the fixing of the two accessories in each printing position can also be done automatically.
The means necessary to carry out these operations are also known.
Another feature of the new rotary reproducing apparatus is that each humidifier has a liquid supply, automatically controlled from the printing drum and individually adjustable.
Further details of the invention will become apparent from the following description detailing the construction of an apparatus according to the invention.
The attached dissin cir shows, in schematic illustration, an exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevation.
The ifg. 2 is a vertical section taken along the line I-I of FIG. 1.
The fi g. 3 is a section, on a larger scale, through a guide bar for the accessories.
The printing drum 1 is rotatably mounted with its ases [in the side walls 3 of the machine, walls which also support the guide bar 4, which can oscillate around its longitudinal axis, and the fixed guide bar 5. On these bars can slide the printing accessory carriages 6 and 7.
Each of these accessories is constituted, in a known manner, by a

humidifier device 8, 9 and a counter-pressure roller 10, printer 11. In the starting position of the drum / 1, these back-pressure rollers 10, 11 are located opposite the recess of the drum 1, this which makes it possible to move the accessories by sliding, without the reverse writing original stretched over the drum being erased or damaged.
Accessory 6 is used for the reproduction of changing text! on the sheets to be printed ,. For this purpose, this accessory comprises a strip of moistening felt 8a of line width, which felt is fed from the liquid container 8b, at the intervention of the valve 8c. The back pressure roller 10 also has a line width.
The accessory 7 is used to reproduce the text B remaining identical on the sheets to be printed. For this purpose, this accessory comprises a strip of dampening felt 9a, which extends over a plurality of line widths, so that then one can moisten on the sheets to be printed a strip on which one can print an entire paragraph of the original. This strip of moistening felt 9a is fed from the liquid container 9b, through the intervention of the valve 9c. the width of the back pressure roller 11 corresponds to the width of the felt strip 9a.
12 designates the infeed table for the sheets to be printed.
In the exemplary embodiment illustrated (fig. 1), the infeed table 12 is coupled to the printing accessory 6 and in particular due to the fact that an appropriate pin 13, with spring, takes in the recesses. 14 of the carriage 6. Due to the provision of several recesses 14, the infeed table can be suitably adjusted, as required, with respect to the humidifier 8a and the counter-pressure roller 10. One However, the infeed table 12 can also be coupled with the accessory 7. In this case, a spring-loaded pin 15 engages in the recesses 16 of the carriage 7.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
@
On the bar 5 there are provided several bores or recesses 17, in which spring pins (not shown) of the printing accessories 6 or 7 can engage. As a result, these accessories can be fixed in each position of suitable printing on bar 5.
The control of valves 8c and 9c results from the fact that the
18 valve stems '/' engage on the rotating bar 4. The latter has a recess 4a, directed axially, (fig.3) and the lower ends of the valve stems 18 are supported on the underside 4b of said obviously. When the bar 4 is rotated alternately in the direction of the arrows, which can be carried out in a known manner by means not shown and with the intervention of a controlled member of the machine, the valves 8c and 9c will be raised, to periodic distances, by the cooperation of the tension springs 19 (fig. 2). As a result, the containers 8b and 9b let out each time a quantity of liquid determined on the felt strips 8a and 9a.
The automatic closing of valves 8c and 9c occurs when the bar 4 returns to the normal position (figs.
2 and 3).
After leaving the printing drum 1, or the back pressure roller 10, the printed sheets or the like are collected on a receiving table 20 to be fed, for example, to a collecting container (not shown).
