<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
@
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

in different running conditions and to change the rate in a simple way with grip studs in gear, in gear with grip studs in grip and vice versa.
This is obtained by the grip device according to the invention, firstly in that the grip studs with bilateral rings are arranged in the form of a ring of studs surrounding the tire of the wheel with radial play, said ring being radially adjustable. relative to the wheel body, and secondly in that the ring of crampons and the wheel body are provided with coupling means capable of engaging each other, the whole in such a way that by eccentric adjustment of the ring of studs, in relation to the wheel body and upwards, the grip studs located below, for walking in soft ground, rest on the tire, and the coupling means automatically engage each other so that the crown of crampons is driven by the wheel body,
while by concentric adjustment of the ring of studs with respect to the wheel body, no engagement of the coupling means occurs and a segment of the ring of studs arranged in a removable manner makes it possible to run on the tire alone, the ring of crampons in the state of rest.
This device finds its use in any wheel tires, therefore both in solid tires and in pneumatic tires.

The drawing shows by way of example one embodiment of the object of the invention.
The f ig. 1 shows an exterior view of a tractor wheel fitted with the grip device, the ring of studs being adjusted eccentrically with respect to the wheel body,
Fig. 2 shows a similar view with the ring of crampons adjusted concentrically with respect to the wheel body, FIG. 3 shows an exterior view of the device with the removable segment of the ring of crampons removed for the purpose of rolling over the tire, and FIG. 4 is an interior view of the wheel body, FIG. 5 shows on a larger scale a broken radial section along the line V-V of FIG. 1; fig. 6 is a perspective representation of the removable crown segment and figo 7 shows on a larger scale a section of a coupling plate along line VII-VII of figo 2.
The wheel body shown in the drawing provided with the grip device comprises, fixed to the shaft 1 of the tractor, a hub 2 with disc 3 and rim 4, on which the pneumatic tire 5 is located.
The grip device arranged on the wheel comprises a number of grip studs 6 in the form of a caliper and distributed at regular intervals over
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the periphery of the wheel, said studs being welded or riveted on both sides of the wheel to rings 7a and 7i so as to form with these the ring of studs.
A support ring 9 concentric with respect to the wheel shaft is fixed to the side member R of the tractor frame by means of two angled tabs 8. On the upper part of this support ring 9 are arranged two arms 10 which protrude radially upward and carry rollers 12, while in the middle of the lower part is arranged an arm 11 which projects downward and which is laterally pivotally fixed to the ring and carries a roller 13.
The lever arm 11 has a laterally projecting control arm 1a. The three rollers 12 and 13 have a flange and rotate around the inner periphery of the crown ring 7i on the inner side of the wheel.
On the outer face is fixed to the outer rim ring by means of spacer pins 14 a drive ring concentric to the shaft of the wheel and having on its outer perimeter caps 16 projecting outwardly. . The outer ring 7a of the ring of studs has on its inner periphery abutments 17 projecting inward.
The stops 17 and the tocs 16 form the coupling means, the respective lengths of which are measured so that they can pass freely one in front of the other, when the two rings 7a and 15 are concentric with each other. with respect to the other (fig. 2 and 3), but that said coupling means engage the lower part of the wheel, @
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
when the crown of crampons, as shown in fig. 1, takes an eccentric position, a point to which we will return later.
A piece S of the ring of studs which has two or more grip studs, depending on the diameter of the wheel, is removably arranged and is held in its position by means of hooks 7h provided at the rings 7a and 71. We have furthermore provided a clamping plate 18 (fig. 7) which can be inserted between the rings 7a and 15.
A linkage not shown and which can be actuated from the driver's seat acts on the adjustment arm 11a.
The operation of the different devices for the different operating conditions is as follows:
For courses in soft ground which require the operation of the grip studs, the arm 11 with the roller 13 will be rotated in the position shown in fig. 1. The wheel is then lowered until it comes to rest with the pneumatic tire on the lower traction studs, the ring of studs therefore being displaced upwards eccentrically to the wheel. As a result, the stops 17 of the ring 7a at the bottom protrude into the path of the lower tabs 16 of the drive ring 15. so that the ring of studs is driven by mating.
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
If the position of the control arm 11a is changed so that the arm 11 with the roller 13 comes to be placed in the vertical position shown in FIGS. 2 to 4, the wheel body then lifts with respect to the crown of studs until it is concentric with respect to the crown of studs. The clamping plate 18 is then fixed between the two rings 15 and 7a so that the latter are held together rigidly and the wheel body rotates with the crown of studs.
This position is for example advantageous for harrowing, no imprint being left in the ground.
For road trips, respectively on hard flat terrain, the clamping plate 18 is removed and the crown segment S is detached, then the rest of the crown is rotated until the tire rests on the ground and the wheel can run normally on it, while the ring of studs remains immobile. The removed crown segment can, for simplicity, be placed over the crampon crown.
The adhesion device described has the advantage of being able to change quickly and simply from one operating position to the other, without having to fold up all the adhesion studs, as was the case for the devices. known so far.
In addition, the grip crampons cannot become obstructed in clayey terrain, due to the fact that the crampon ring in the eccentric position constantly moves in the direction of the circumference as well as radially in relation to it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
wearing to the tire of the wheel, accordingly shaking the clayey earth.
A powerful grip is also produced when the grip studs are not rigidly connected to the wheel body, but rest independently of the latter on the tire, between the latter and the ground; the rolling resistance also being reduced with respect to known devices.
