  "EMPLOI D'ALLIAGES DE MAGNESIUM POUR PRODUITS OBTENUS PAR
 EMI1.1
 EMBOUTISSAGE PROF01ID".

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Exemple I: 0,6 % de zinc
0,2 % de calcium
1,3 % de manganèse reste magnésium Eriohsen: 7 mm de profondeur

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 EMI4.1
 Exemnle 2: 0,6 * de zinc
0,2 % de calcium
0,2 % de silicium 0,8 de manganèse reste magnésium
Erichsen :   7   mm de   nrofondeur .

  Exemple 0,9 % de zinc
1,5 % d'aluminium
0,25 % de calcium
1,24% de manganèse reste magnésium Erichsen: 8 mm de rofondeur.

  Exemple 4: 0,9 % de zinc   1,5 % d'aluminium
0,1 % de calcium
0,08% de silicium
 EMI4.2
 0 il 9 "/,, de mangânése reste magnésium
Erichsen: 8   mm   de profondeur.

  Exemple 5 : 0,9 % de zinc
 EMI4.3

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

  "USE OF MAGNESIUM ALLOYS FOR PRODUCTS OBTAINED BY
 EMI1.1
 PROF01ID Stamping ".

   The malleable magnesium alloys used so far have the disadvantage that they can only be cold-formed in. a restricted measure. Thus, for example, they are not suitable for deep drawing. Hollow bodies and the like which may be obtained from metals suitable for deep drawing, very conveniently by deep drawing, drawing with drawing, embossing and similar deforming operations, were to be obtained up to Now, in the case of using malleable magnesium alloys, by complicated bending and welding of separate elements.

   Many hollow shapes were impracticable with malleable alloys of magnesium by deformation without chip removal, even using opera-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 welding operations. Due to the need for welding in the manufacture of hollow bodies of this kind, it has hitherto been limited to the use of only known alloys of magnesium weldable without restrictions, namely binary alloys of magnesium-manganese, which have low strength and low ductility.

   However, the present invention relates to products obtained from magnesium alloys, by rolling, by pressing or by forging, which are still subjected to subsequent deformations such as deep drawing, drawing with drawing. , spinning and similar malleaing treatments, and which are used in the form of sheets, tubes, sections and other semi-worked products and which are made from alloys of the following basic composition:
0.3 - 2.5% zinc
0.05 - 1.0% calcium remains magnesium.

  As additions, the following may still be present: manganese 0.1 - 2.5% alone and in addition still 0.05 - 1.0% silicon, or also 0.1 - 3% aluminum alone and in excess encorde, where appropriate 0.1 - 2.0% manganese and 0.05 - 0.5% silicon, separately or together.

  Consequently, the alloys can be constituted by: 0.3 - 2.5% of zinc 0.05 - 1.0% of calcium O, I - 2.5% of Manganese remains magnesium or 0.3 - 2.5 % zinc 0.05 - 1.0% calcium 0.1 - 2.5% manganese 0.05 - 1.0% silicon remains magnesium

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 or 0.3 - 2.5% zinc 0.05 - 1.0% calcium 0.1 - 3, 0% aluminum remains magnesium or 0.3 - 2.5% zinc 0.05 - 1 , 0% calcium 0.1 - 3, 0% aluminum
0.1 - 2.0% manganese remains magnesium or 0.3 - 2.5% zinc 0.05 - 1.0% calcium 0.1 3.0% aluminum 0.1 - 2.0 % manganese 0.05 - 0,

  5% silicon remains magnesium
The alloys may still contain, to a certain extent, later elements already generally known as additional metals for magnesium alloys, such as heavy metals, for example cadmium, and rare earth metals, without the suitability of the alloys. when deep drawing is lost.

   Below are given some alloys and the measurement of their suitability for Erichsen deep drawing in depths at a sheet thickness of 1 mm of these alloys:
Example I: 0.6% zinc
0.2% calcium
1.3% manganese remains Eriohsen magnesium: 7 mm deep

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 EMI4.1
 Example 2: 0.6 * zinc
0.2% calcium
0.2% silicon 0.8 manganese remains magnesium
Erichsen: 7 mm deep.

  Example 0.9% zinc
1.5% aluminum
0.25% calcium
1.24% manganese remains Erichsen magnesium: 8 mm deep.

  Example 4: 0.9% zinc 1.5% aluminum
0.1% calcium
0.08% silicon
 EMI4.2
 0 il 9 "/ ,, of manganese remains magnesium
Erichsen: 8 mm deep.

  Example 5: 0.9% zinc
 EMI4.3
 I, 5% alullinium 0.3% calcium I,% manganese 0.5% cadmium remains magnesium
Erichsen: 7.5mm deep.

   By way of comparison with the Erichsen depths obtained with these alloys it should be noted that with the usual magnesium alloys up to now an Eriohsen depth of about 4.5 mm was hardly achievable. Cold stamping or embossing of cups or hollow bodies such as obtainable with the alloys according to the invention is excluded with the malleable alloys of magnesium employed heretofore.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   The alloys according to the invention have, in the form of sheets of 1 mm thickness, tested in the longitudinal direction: drawing limits between 16 and 22 kg / mm2 strengths "21 and 27" "18 and 25% @
Deep drawing deformation can be performed cold or hot.

   Most suitable for cold deep drawing is a state obtained by sudden cooling from temperatures above 3000, preferably about 400. In this state the alloys also exhibit remarkable flexural strength. can bend sheets of 1 mm thickness, of an alloy according to Example 5, according to an internal bending radius of the double thickness of the plate, without a further break occurring.
