"Valv e ".
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
tion.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Valv e".
The subject of the invention is a valve intended more particularly for the emptying of receptacles containing liquids and more particularly still liquids mixed or holding solid materials in suspension.
The object of the invention is to provide such a valve guaranteeing normal flow of the liquid (s), complete emptying of the container and systematically preventing the obstruction of the inlet opening even by abundant solid deposits.
The valve, object of the invention, is further characterized by a very great simplicity of construction and a great ease of assembly and disassembly.
Substantially, this valve is characterized by the fact that the orifice for discharging the liquid (s) made in the -receptacle is normally closed by a mobile element or
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
valve proper, designed such that the release of said orifice can not be obtained by moving said movable part or valve inwardly. receptacle. By this condition, we obtain that the said moving part or valve, the instant of the opening operation, pushes back the solid deposits which would have possibly accumulated to the right of the valve and which, otherwise, would cause the obstruction of the device. evacuation.
Conversely, to close the valve and, consequently, to systematically and instantaneously stop the flow of the liquid, said moving part or valve is operated in such a way that it emerges from the receptacle and comes to rest against its seat. , so as to cause the device to close tightly. The term “seat” can be understood to mean any surface against which the valve proper is applied, adjusted or placed, with a view to completely obstructing the passage of the liquid.
The movable part or valve itself can therefore be profiled in any suitable manner and it can be operated by many different means, while satisfying the predefined essential condition. Similarly, the valve proper and the element or elements to which it is integral can move in a valve body of very different shapes, so that the liquid stream can be oriented in the desired direction. Indeed, the mechanical assembly can be made so that the fluid flows around the stem of the valve and is discharged through a lateral nozzle in a direction normal or inclined with respect to the axis of said stem in any direction. direction deemed suitable.
Or else, in order to obtain an evacuation of the liquid in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the valve, the stem of the latter may be hollow and act as a flow nozzle.
One could obviously imagine all other mechanical executions applying the essential characteristics of the invention.

tion.
By way of example, without any limiting nature, two embodiments are described in more detail below and shown diagrammatically in the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a radialelongitudinal section through a valve according to the invention, with lateral discharge ; FIG. 2 is a longitudinal radial section through a valvē with longitudinal discharge; Figure 3 is a section along the line III-III of Figure 2.
According to Figure 1 and in accordance with the invention, the actual valve 1 is integral with a rod 2, extended by a threaded portion 3 and terminated by a handwheel 4.
The threaded part 3 is engaged in a valve body 5 firmly screwed onto an internally threaded ring 6 integral with the receptacle 7, the valve of which controls the emptying. The valve body 5: has an interior chamber 8 of greater diameter than the diameter of the valve stem 2, so that an annular chamber 9 remains around the latter. A nozzle 10 opens into this annular chamber. Finally, the latter ends towards the receptacle 5 by a conical seat 11, against which the valve proper can be firmly applied 1. normally therefore, the valve 1 is firmly applied against its seat 11 by the maneuver'en proper direction of the flywheel 4. The orifice for discharging the liquid contained in the receptacle 7 is therefore blocked in a sealed manner. Closure is favored by the pressure of the liquid.
To obtain the flow of the latter, it suffices to maneuver the handwheel 4, for example in the direction of screwing, which causes a longitudinal displacement of the valve 1, which moves away from its seat, freeing the orifice of liquid evacuation. This flows through the annular chamber 9 and through the nozzle 10. As can be seen, the jet is, in this example, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the valve. In fact, it makes it possible to obtain an effect. similar to that which results from the em-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
employment of an ordinary tap while introducing the above-described advantages relating to the impossibility of an obstruction by solid deposits possibly suspended in the liquid.
Indeed, the rectilinear movement of the valve 1 would systemstiduementle the discharge of any solid matter which would have been located right of the opening of the evacuation orifice. As can be seen, normally this valve is extremely simple and can be made from a compact and sturdy basket. It can be fixed on the receptacle by simply screwing into 13 crown bordering the discharge orifice.
According to Figures 2 and 3, an alternative embodiment is produced, which is essentially characterized by the fact that the liquid stream is discharged axially. To this end, the valve proper 1 is extended by a hollow rod 12 externally threaded on its rear part 13. This rod is screwed into the valve body 14, under the effect of the operation of the flywheel 15 secured to the said rod by fixing screws 16. The hollow rod 12 has lateral orifices 17 towards the end adjacent to the valve 1. The valve body 14 is also screwed, for example, onto a crown 6, firmly secured to the receptacle. tackle 7.
Normally, the tapering machine 12 is in the retracted position, so that the orifices 17 are disposed towards the inside of the valve body 14 and that the adjacent end of said hollow rod has completely disengaged from the receptacle 7. In this position, the cone end of the said hollow rod is firmly applied.
11 quer against its seat / thus ensuring a practically tight closure. To allow the liquid to flow, it suffices to maneuver the handwheel 15 in the direction of screwing the filtered part 13 into the valve body 14.
By this maneuver, the hollow rod 12 penetrates into the receptacle 7 thus fulfilling the dual function of pushing back the solid deposits which may have come to be located in line with the discharge orifice and of clearing the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
orifices 17 allowing the liquid to flow. This flows directly in the axis of the hollow rod 12.
The two examples of execution which have just been described can obviously undergo numerous modifications, in order to be judiciously adapted to each practical case. , More particularly, in order to allow easy assembly and rapid disassembly of the various parts constituting the entire valve, 'the conical part or valve proper 1 will be @ optionally attached to its stem and fixed therein, for example, by screw or nut.
In this way, we can easily separate the said end. conical and completely disengage the stem from the valve body. 'It should also be noted that the valve proper pushed back towards the interior of the receptacle at the time of opening, undergoes a double movement of rotation and translation, which further favors the discharge of solid deposits. For this purpose, moreover, said valve or conical end could be profiled in any way favorable to the displacement of said solid deposits.
The valve according to the invention can be made in practically any size and be fixed on any type of receptacle, pipe and, in general, on any support from which one or more liquids must flow. It will obviously be possible to introduce into the construction of such a valve additional seals, stop or stop elements, or even graduated or other indices, allowing the control of the maneuvers.
