 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY filed in support of an INVENTION PATENT application Company known as: PATENTVERWERTUNGS-GESELLSCHAFT MIT BESCHRANKTER HAFTUNG "HERMES", Temperature compensation device for induction meters. "- Priority of a patent application in Germany filed on July 10, 1945 n S.156 463 VIII d / 21 e in the name of SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT and of which the aforementioned Company is the beneficiary.

The object of the invention is to compensate for measurement errors caused in induction meters by variations in the temperature of the room. There are two kinds of errors in these devices: an error which must be attributed to the modification of the magnitude of the flux ratios during temperature variations and an error which results from the modification of the phase angle between the two fluxes. drive, both due to current and the other to voltage.

Meters in which temperature errors are compensated simply by use, in braking magnets of so-called thermal alloys with negative temperature coefficient of magnetic conductivity only provide compensation for temperature errors with regard to fluxes, but the angular error remains uncompensated, so that for inductive load and high temperatures, a larger measurement error occurs, In a known meter, a thermal alloy is arranged in the path of the flux d training due to current. This alloy acts on the flow and the angle in the correct direction, however it is almost impossible to completely compensate for the angular error.

According to the invention, a complete compensation -of angle- and flux is obtained for the temperature compensation of an induction meter with low load drive flux in the voltage drive magnet by arranging in the path derived from this magnet a magnetic conductive device with positive temperature coefficient of magnetic conductivity which correctly compensates for the flux error, At the same time, the motor flux is compensated in its load so that precisely also the error angular is correctly compensated by this magnetic arrangement.

The invention is described more closely with the aid of the drawing.

In the path derived from the voltage motor electromagnet 1 are arranged conductive members 2 with positive temperature coefficient of the magnetic conductivity. These parts consist, for example, of invar and nicksl plates which are heat-welded to one another. The increase in magnetic conductivity during the increase in temperature is established by the fact that, after cooling, the .. nickel is subjected to a tensile stress and the invar to a compressive stress, because the nickel has a coefficient of thermal expansion greater than that of invar. when the temperature increases, the. tensile stress in nickel and compressive stress in invar decrease.

Therefore increase the compression in @

tick of nickel whose magnetostriction is negative and at the same time the conductivity of the invar whose magnetostriction is positive. The magnets act on an armature 5 which loads the motor voltage flux relatively lightly and therefore is executed in a corresponding thinness.

As the temperature increases, the ratio of the motor voltage flux to the voltage dispersion flux varies in favor of the voltage dispersion flux. The motor voltage flux thus decreases with the increase in temperature, as is necessary in consideration of the correct flux compensation according to known laws, but as the flux of voltage dispersion, which passes through parts 3 but not the armature 5, is as we know strongly behind on the motor voltage flux, and that this dispersion flux is consequently increased at the expense of the motor voltage flux, according to known laws there is a delay more considerable motor flow.

The latter thus delays as necessary in consideration of the correct angular compensation all the more strongly on the tension as the temperature increases more.

If it is feared that, for a strongly loaded voltage motor flux, so if the armature 5 is relatively thick and made of a material of very high conductivity, a change in the flux ratio will produce in favor of the flux loss a decrease in the phase delay of the resulting voltage flux with respect to the voltage, and that, with regard to the angular compensation, the ratios for a highly loaded voltage motor flux are precisely the opposite of what they must be within the object of the invention, it is not difficult to see that, by modifications of the load of the motor voltage flux, the temperature compensation device can:

without being further compensated in such a way that, by using the magnet arrangements 2, correct angular compensation also occurs. It is not possible to establish general rules for the different embodiments of meters. The practical implementation of temperature compensation for a given form of meter does not cause any insurmountable difficulty.

The invention offers the advantage that, through the use of a simple means of temperature compensation, full temperature compensation can be achieved.
