<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY in support of an application for a PATENT OF INTENT "Improvements to vibration devices" Mr. Léopold BLANPAIN, 31, Av. De la Joyeuse Entrée, BRUSSELS.
The invention relates to improvements made to vibration devices, in particular to the elastic suspension of the mobile equipment of devices of this type, such as vibrating screens, vibration tables, vibration conveyors, vibration settlers, etc.
Suspensions of this type are known, in which the mobile assembly is supported at several points by spring boots each comprising a yoke fixed to the frame of the apparatus and several springs attached, on the one hand, to this yoke and, on the other hand, to a common central part which forms a bearing for an axle of the mobile assembly, while the tension of the various springs can be adjusted, in particular with a view to modifying the amplitude of the vibrations according to the nature of the processed products and working conditions.
In order to extend the possibilities of adjusting the characteristics of the vibration, the invention provides that the yoke to which the springs of a spring box are attached is mounted in an adjustable angular position on the frame of the apparatus, so as to be able to vary the position of all the springs around the axle of the moving assembly. For this purpose, the yoke of any shape can be mounted on the frame so as to be able to rotate about an axis perpendicular to its plane. Advantageously, the yoke comprises a movable circle, to which the suspension springs are attached and which can be rotated concentrically in a fixed circle which is integral with the frame, the movable circle being able to be blocked, by any suitable means, in any desired angular position relative to the fixed circle.
In this way, it becomes possible to also adjust the direction of the vibrations, that is to say to vary, in the general plane of the boot, the position of all the main axes of the complex curve which
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
represents the trajectory of vibration. To accelerate the advancement of the product on the vibro-sieve or the like, it will suffice to incline in the direction of the slope of the sieve, the vertical axis of said path. The reverse will be done to slow down the movement of the product and obtain a more thorough sieving.
The invention also provides means for facilitating the adjustment of the individual tension of the springs. Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description of some exemplary embodiments, given below with reference to the appended drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 shows an elevational view of a spring boot according to the invention,

Fig. 7 shows an elevational view of an alternative embodiment of the spring boot according to the invention,
Fig. 8 shows a vertical sectional view of this boot,
Fig. 9 shows a partial view of a vibrating table operated by a device for imparting periodic shocks to the moving equipment,
Fig. 10 shows a view on a larger scale of this device,

Fig. 12 shows an alternative embodiment of the boot according to FIG. 7, and
Fig. 13 shows a side view of a vibro-screen according to the invention.
In the drawings, 1 designates a point of suspension of the mobile assembly of a vibrating apparatus, for example a vibrating box axle 2 (Fig. 3) of a vibrating screen.
In a first embodiment, the spring boot according to the invention comprises a yoke or fixed circle 3, made integral with the frame 4 of the vibrating device, and a movable circle 5 which can be moved concentrically in the fixed circle 3. springs 6, in this case four in number, are attached, on the one hand, to the ring
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
movable key 5 and on the other hand, to a central part 7, for example in the form of a disc with central drilling, which is engaged with hard friction (without play) on the axle 1 and constitutes a bearing for the latter.
The movable circle can be blocked with respect to the fixed circle by means of any suitable devices, for example a suitable number of pins or bolts 8 passing through these two circles. To allow adjustment of the angular position of the circle 5 and its locking in any desired position, the circle 3 can have, for each bolt, a series of holes or a buttonhole.
Lateral rings 9, provided for the fixed circle, or similar means, ensure the guiding of the mobile circle and prevent it from disengaging from the fixed circle. It is optionally possible to provide lubrication of the sliding surface of the two circles to facilitate the maneuver, In order to allow the easy angular movement of the moving circle, but above all to be able to easily and quickly adjust, and in a very wide manner, the vibration trajectory, it is necessary to balance the weight of the moving assembly and possibly of its load, which can be achieved either by means of compression springs 10 which are supported on the frame 4 and support the axles 1 by means of bearings 11, or by means of counterweights 12 suspended from cables 13 passing on pulleys 14 mounted on fixed axes,
these cables being attached to the axles 1, advantageously with the interposition of damping springs 15 (FIG. 3), or by means of these two combined means. This balancing also makes it possible to reduce the expenditure of energy for setting the mobile unit to vibration, for example using an unbalance motor attached to this unit, or any other appropriate means. In addition, the adjustment of the balance (by adjusting the tension of the springs 10 or the size of the counterweights 12) makes it possible to modify the influence of gravity on the aaoteristics of the vibration, the result of the vibration. action of the weight of the moving assembly and of the balancing means may be zero, or be directed downward or upward.
The springs 6 can be constituted by tension springs (Fig. 4) attached, on the one hand, to the part 7 by means of the pivots 16 and, on the other hand, to the pins 17 of the yokes 18 fixed to the mobile circle 5. To prevent the spring 6 from being subjected to compression, it is attached by means of a buttonhole 19 to the pin 17, or else the yoke 18 may include a threaded rod 20 freely passing through the two circles 3, 5. and retained by nuts 21.
It is advantageous to use springs 6 working in compression (Fig. 6-6-12), in particular because in the event of a spring breaking, the vibrations can continue without deep disturbance.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
and without risk of accidents to people or material. Each spring 6 is placed in a cylindrical housing 22, the fixed bottom 23 of which is hooked to the movable circle 5, for example by means of an eyelet rod 24 engaging the axis 17 of the yoke 18, while the movable bottom 25 consists of a nut which serves as a support for the spring 6 and is crossed by a rod 26 articulated to the pivot 16 of the part 7. At its other end, this rod 26 carries a disc 27 which rests on the spring 6 and slides like a piston in the cylinder 22.
The Fige. 7-8 show another embodiment of the suspension according to the invention. It comprises a movable yoke 30, which has a rectangular shape, but could have any other geometric shape, and which is fixed by angles 31 on a plate 32. The latter is mounted to rotate in front of a disc 33 fixed to the frame 4. The movable assembly can be locked in position with bolts or the like engaged in, for example, four holes 34 made in plate 32 and passing through the corresponding holes of a series of holes 35 made in disk 33. Two compression springs 6 are placed around the guide rods 36 mounted in the continuation of one another and fixed to a part 37 serving as a bearing for an axle 1 of the mobile assembly.
These rods can be formed by tubes pierced with holes. It goes without saying that a greater number of springs could be arranged between the part 37 and the frame 30, for example four horizontal tension springs. The outer ends of the rods 36 can swing freely in buttonholes made in the frame 30. The flapping parts can be covered with rubber or the like. The device can be completed by a spring 38 resting on an element of the frame 4 and playing the same role as the spring 10 of FIGS. 1-2.
Fig. 12 shows an alternative embodiment in which the frame 30 is also rotatably mounted in front of the disc 33 and comprises four springs 6 working in compression between the outer surface of the frame 30 and washers 55 mounted on rods 56 which freely pass through the said frame and are articulated to the bearing 7, in which the axle 1 engages. Nuts 57 make it possible to adjust the tension of the springs 6.
By modifying the characteristics of the individual springs, the trajectory of vibration can be varied and in particular the amplitude of the vibrations can be changed.
To change the shape of the complex curve which represents the vibration trajectory, it suffices to vary the position of the points of this curve which are each determined by a spring.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
suspension, depending on the direction in which it is placed. In the case of four springs offset by 90, these will determine in particular four points on the main axes of the curve. If the tension of each of the springs can be varied individually, without influencing that of the other springs, the position of each of said points can be modified separately and therefore the shape of the curve can be modified at will, even in an asymmetric way. if the action of a spring does not influence that of the spring placed in its extension.
In the examples illustrated, when a spring works in compression, the opposite spring in particular does not undergo any tensile force. In addition, the invention provides two means for varying quickly and easily during a test, without resorting to laborious disassembly, the characteristics of each spring individually.
Or we can modify the number of turns of the spring, which actually work, by varying the support base of the spring, for example by passing, between the turns of the spring, a pin engaging in one or the another of the holes 28 provided in the cylinder 22 (Fig. 5).
Or it is possible to modify the initial tension of the spring, by compressing it more or less between two washers or the like bearing on the casing 22 which is / attached to the yoke, without reacting on the element which cooperates with this spring and is attached to the bearing 7. This result can for example be obtained by the device illustrated in FIG. 6. The spring 6 is compressed between the adjusting nut 25, screwed into the inner end of the cylinder 22, and a washer 29 placed freely in the latter and resting against an inner shoulder of this casing. Advantageously, the bottom 23 is, for this purpose, established in the form of a cap screwed into the outer end of the cylinder 22, so that its end forms the said shoulder, the position of which can be adjusted by moving the said cap. .
The rod 26 passes freely through the assembly, while a washer 60 of rubber, leather or the like, is interposed between the piston 27 and the washer 29, to prevent hammering. It is therefore sufficient to act on the nut 25 to modify the tension of the spring 6.
These adjustment means are very suitable for being applied to the elastic suspension according to the invention, the useful effects of which they complete, but they could also be applied to all other elastic suspension systems in which it is desired to be able to individually adjust the tension of several springs acting on a common organ.
The invention also provides a device for printing
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
periodic damped shocks to the moving equipment, and therefore to the material treated. This device essentially comprises a plate mounted on an element integral with the mobile assembly and supporting one or more hammers intended to strike on an element of the frame of the vibration device, while at least one elastic layer is interposed between the hammers. and the said element of the mobile crew. In the case of a vibrating table, this device makes it possible to obtain a better compaction of the material.
In the case of a vibrocreen, the particles of material which may obstruct the mesh of the sieve are detached by the impacts generated by the device according to the invention. Depending on the case, this strike can be produced during the rising part or during the descending part of the vibration path, the shocks can therefore be directed upwards or downwards. Figs. 9-10 and 11 show two embodiments of this device.
Figs. 9-10 show a vibrating table 39 connected to the frame 40 by means of the springs 41, 42 which work in compression and surround the axis 43. The device intended to generate the damped shocks comprises a plate 44 having as many bushes as the slide comprises hammers 45, for example two in the illustrated case. The plate 44 is mounted and wedged on the axis 43 to prevent it from rotating. A washer 46 made of rubber, leather or the like is interposed between the plate 44 and the fixing nut 47.
Each hammer 45 is provided with a threaded rod 48 which allows its position to be adjusted by means of nut 49, 50 which rest on the plate 44 with the intervention of washers 51, 52 made of rubber, leather or the like. The threaded rods 48 pass through the bushes 53 with clearance. They could however engage a corresponding tapping of the bushes and, in this case, the washers 51, 52 would become superfluous. At each vibration of the moving assembly 39, the hammers 45 strike from bottom to top on the frame 40 and impart, to the moving assembly, a shock which is damped by the washer 46 and possibly by the washers 51, 52.
As shown on the right in Fig. 9, the striking device may also comprise one or more hammers acting upwards and one or more hammers striking downwards, so as to produce two shocks by vibration.
In addition, the vibrating table is usefully provided, at its ends, with one or more horizontal springs 61, forming lateral damping springs. They can work in traction, as shown in the drawing, or in compression, their tension being adjustable by means of nuts or the like. There are attached, of a
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
on the one hand, the vibrating frame and, on the other hand, the fixed frame. The simultaneous presence of the horizontal springs 61 and of the vertical springs 41, 42 brings us back to the principle of springs placed in a cross, discussed above.
These horizontal springs eliminate the beating of the guide pins of the vertical springs and make it possible to reduce the play of said pins in the openings provided in the frame so as not to hamper the movement of these pins. Moreover, they reduce the vibratory curve in the direction longitudinal, this curve having above all to present an adjustable amplitude in the direction of the height in order to obtain a good settlement. These horizontal springs therefore improve operation, as well as the good conservation of the material.
Fig. 11 shows the application of a striking device to a vibro-screen mounted on an elastic suspension according to the invention (Figs. 1-6). The corresponding members are represented by the same references as in Figs. 1-6 and 9-10, The device is mounted on the pin 43 which passes through the balancing spring 10 bearing on an element 54 of the frame 4. The pin 43 freely passes through this element 54 on which the hammers 45 strike. from top to bottom.
Finally, FIG. 13 shows a vibro-screen, the axles 1 of the mobile assembly of which are mounted on elastic suspensions according to the invention. The inclination of the screen can be adjusted by means of telescopic legs 58, for example constituted by U-shaped irons which can slide one inside the other, the lower end of each leg being able to be fixed at will at one of the points 59 of the frame, for example by means of a bolt engaged in an opening of the crutch 58 and the opening 59 chosen.
It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the constructive embodiments described and illustrated, but that, without departing from the scope of the invention, it can be implemented in different constructive forms making it possible to obtain the intended effects. .
