Brevet d'invention. Monsieur Marcel LECOMTE.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Patent. Mr. Marcel LECOMTE. Box-case for bicycles. The present invention relates to a briefcase box intended to be fixed to the luggage racks of bicycles, tandems, motorcycles and the like, in the manner of bags or sheaths made of fabric, waxed canvas or leather, currently. used.
According to the invention, the case-box comprises on the one hand, a box proper and on the other hand, a support to be adapted to the luggage rack, said box being provided with two fixing elements, one of which can be joined by interlocking with a corresponding element of said support and the other of which can be joined in a fixed and secure manner with another corresponding element of this support.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, on the one hand, the box and the support are both provided with two fixing elements, one of which comprises a tongue in the form of a dovetail. which fits smoothly into a correspondingly shaped groove made in the other element and, on the other hand, the support is provided with a rod with clamping nut, which

fits in a notch made in a tab secured to the box.
According to a feature of the invention, the box and the support are made of a light and resistant metal such as aluminum and aluminum alloys or the like, while the elements which fit together with gentle friction are, the 'one in such a metal and the other in a different metal, such as for example cast iron.
Other details and features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the accompanying drawings which represent, by way of example only, one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows in perspective a box and a support, the whole of which constitutes the box-case according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows, also in perspective, on a larger scale, part of two fixing elements of the box and of the support.
Fig. 1 shows a parallelepipedal box 2, made of aluminum alloy, provided with a cover 3 pivoting around the hinges 4. A support to be adapted to the luggage rack of a bicycle, consists of a metal cap 5 to which is attached a rod 6.
Made integral with the cap 5, for example by riveting or welding, there is a fastening element 7 which comprises a tongue 8 in the form of a dovetail. At the upper part of the box 2, there is another fixing element 9, in which is made a groove 10 of a shape corresponding to the dovetail 8 and in which the latter can adapt itself to gentle friction. The element 9 is preferably made of an aluminum alloy and the element 7 of another metal or vice versa. This prevents these elements from seizing up, for example as a result of their exposure to bad weather. At the bottom of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Rod 6 is threaded through an eyelet 11 integral with a threaded rod 12, with wing nut 13.
At its lower part, the box 2 is provided with a tab 14 in which a notch 15 is formed which can receive the rod 12.
When the dovetail 8 is inserted by sliding into the groove 10 and that one reunites in a fixed and safe manner, the rod 12 and the tab 14 thanks to the tightening nut 13, the box and the support are connected in a firm manner, which is achieved very quickly in a reduced number of operations. Likewise, the box and the support can be separated very quickly by loosening the nut 13 and sliding the element 7 out of the element 9.
The cap 5 of the support is attached to the luggage rack of the bicycle, in any desired manner.
By symmetry and for the good balance of the whole, a second box such as 2 is provided on the other side of the support.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made to the nature, number and shape of the elements involved in its production, without going beyond the scope of the patent.
