<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Chaque porte-patin est immobilisé par un disposi- tif à blocage rapide sur le fourreau qui reçoit le mouvement à déplacement parallèle, ce qui permet un réglage facile avec le minimum de décollage du patin;
L'axe de guidage du fourreau est disposé pour ê- tre très facilement enlevé :ceci permet de pivoter le fourreau et son patin, ce dernier laissant ainsi passage au pneu gonflé, lors du démontage de la roue, la manoeuvre inverse s'effectuant sans avoir modifié le réglage initial;

"Parallel movement rim brake".
The object of the present invention is a rim brake characterized essentially in that the movement of each shoe is effected by parallel movement by means of a parallelogram articulated on two axes integral with the fixed part adjacent to the rim to be braked.
This very compact arrangement ensures extremely rigid guidance of the pads and a normal and very constant action of the latter on the rim. From the beginning until the end of their wear.
In addition, the parallel movement is obtained without sliding friction but only by pivoting movements, much more docile and sensitive to variations in the control force.

Other characteristics contribute to the convenience of use of the brake object of the invention, in particular:
Each pad holder is immobilized by a quick-locking device on the sleeve which receives the parallel movement movement, which allows easy adjustment with the minimum of take-off of the pad;
The guide shaft of the sleeve is arranged to be very easily removed: this allows the sleeve and its shoe to pivot, the latter thus allowing passage to the inflated tire, when the wheel is removed, the reverse maneuver being carried out without have changed the initial setting;
The two mechanical assemblies each ensuring the displacement of one of the two pads are actuated by links or similar members working in traction and ending either in the balancing beam of an axial control, or in a set of levers. allowing lateral control, the latter being able to be mounted at will to the right or to the left of the cycle.
The appended figures show by way of nonlimiting example an embodiment of the invention: FIG.
1 shows it with an axial drive, FIG. 2 shows a side control. Fig. 3 shows the maneuver of releasing a shoe to pass the inflated tire without disrupting the brake.
In these figures the same numbers designate the same members: 1 is the fork on the branches of which are welded parts 2 to which are fixed the pins 3 and 4. The pins 3 receive forks; overlapping the forks 6 to which / are coupled by the removable pins 7 while at their opposite ends the sleeves 6 are articulated by the pins 8 to forks 9 pivoting on the pins 4 and integral with the control levers 10. L 'together form an articulated parallelogram, the control levers 10 of which are urged downwards by tension springs 11 hooked up.

on the one hand to the legs 12 integral with 2 and on the other hand to the rear ends of the removable pins 7 which they retain.
The sleeves 6 receive the tails 13 of the pad holders 14 which are immobilized on 6 in the suitable position by eyebolts 15 which they pass through and whose threaded ends are pulled by wing nuts 16.
The control levers 10 are connected to a lifter 17 (FIG. 1) by means of trihgles 18 provided at each end with spherical parts 19 and the lifter 17 receives the control force from the cable 20 disposed axially.
In fig. 2) the trigles 18 are connected one to a yoke piece 21 and the other to a balance 22 which are both articulated to a common axis 23 on the fork 1 (or on the spacer of the rear fork). The parts 21 and 22 are pivoted towards each other in the known manner by the flexible control transmission, the sheath 24 of which rests on the balance 22 while the cable 25 is connected to the part 21. The parts 21 and 22 being symmetrical in the plane perpendicular to their common axis 23, the lateral control can be mounted on the right or on the left without requiring special parts.
Fig. 3 shows how, to allow the inflated tire 26 to pass, it suffices to unhook one of the springs 11 and pull the corresponding pin 7 to rotate the assembly of a sleeve 6 and its holder. -patin 14 around axis 8.
Of course) the embodiment described and shown above is only exemplary and can vary to a large extent without compromising the characteristics of the invention, summarized below.
