<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

OIL EVAPORATION BURNER FEEDER.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for supplying evaporative oil burners from a completely closed oil tank by pressure balancing with atmospheric air. A known device of this type comprises an oil feeder inserted upstream of the evaporative burner and which, on the one hand,? ensures aeration of the air space located in the upper part of the oil tank starting from the surface of the oil in this manifold and, on the other hand, is connected to the oil tank by a duct whose The outlet is located below the surface of the oil in the reservoir, which conduit serves to maintain the oil at a substantially constant level in that reservoir.
The object of the invention is to considerably simplify this apparatus by eliminating the nurse, the ventilation of the air compartment above the oil reserve as well as the additional filling of the tank being provided by a single duct.
According to the invention, the oil evaporating burner is directly connected to the oil tank according to the principle of communicating vessels, the level of the oil in the burner being maintained by a duct ensuring access to the oil. atmospheric pressure to the oil reserve and immersing in this reserve this duct forming part of the reservoir and having its lower orifice placed in the horizontal plane corresponding to the level of the oil to be evaporated.
In order that the pressure balancing movements inside the oil tank do not exert any action causing variations in the combustion of the oil in the evaporative burner, the section of the dip tube intended for the The pressure balancing is reduced relative to the area of the oil intended for evaporation in the burner so that the pressure balancing movements do not result in noticeable variations in the burner flame.
When filling the tank, 9 the air space above the oil reserve must
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
be subjected to the inaction of atmospheric pressure For this purpose, the top of the reservoir is connected to an aeration duct immersed in a cylinder forming a hydraulic seal, which tube can also serve as a level indicator .
In order to achieve this hydraulic seal with a minimum of oil in the barrel, the latter is interposed in the communication duct between the evaporative burner and the oil tank, so that the oil level of the burner is reduced. automatically establishes inside the barrel
In the communication duct between the burner and the reservoir is also interposed a valve intended for adjusting the flow rate, the key of which presents, as a barrier to the closed position, a peripheral groove of progressively increasing section acting as a flow channel. passage.
In order to prevent the flame from going out during the separation of the evaporative burner and the oil tank, necessary in the filling period., The arrangement is chosen such that the axis of the valve key carries a disc intended to hide 1-'orifice of the plunging duct in the reservoir, this disc having in its periphery a notch (or a similar recess) thanks to which the orifice of the plunger duct is released in a determined intermediate position of the key etc. disc coupled to this key, while the section of the peripheral channel of the key is reduced to allow only the quantity of oil necessary to prevent the flame from going out in the direction of the burner.
The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the features which emerge both from the text and from the drawing, of course forming part of said invention.
FIG. 1 schematically represents a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing the actual arrangement of this embodiment.
Figure 3 is a plan of the fully closed oil tank shown in Figure 2.
FIG. 4 is a horizontal section of the shut-off and adjustment valve interposed in the communication duct between the oil tank and the evaporative burner.
Figure 1 is intended for the explanation of the principle on which the apparatus is based. The evaporative burner 1 communicates via a duct 3 with the completely closed tank 2. To maintain the oil level during combustion in the evaporative burner 1, as indicated in dashes in figure 1, the tank 2 contains a dip tube 4 open at 4a and integral with the upper wall of the reservoir. The lower orifice 4b of this tube is placed in a horizontal plane corresponding to the level of oil which must be maintained in the burner.
As the oil evaporates in the burner 1, the pressure of the outside air acting through the plunger tube 4 causes at the edge of the orifice 4b a rupture of the oil film, so that the air can bubble into the space above the oil level in reservoir 2. The increase in pressure acting on the oil reserve has the effect of restoring the level in the burner to evaporation.
In order to prevent these movements of equilivrqge of the oil reserve causing combustion variations in the evaporative burner 1, the section of the lower orifice 4b of the dip tube 4 is according to the invention, small compared to the surface. evaporation in the burner, so that pressure balancing movements are not perceptible in the form of variations in the burner flame. The dip tube 4 is also used to fill the tank 2.
To allow the automatic escape of the air located above the oil reserve during filling, the top of the tank is integral with a decompression duct 5 (figures 2, 3) plunging into the cylinder 6 forming acting as a hydraulic seal and which can at the same time serve as a level indicator tube in tank 2. To reduce to a minimum the quantity of oil required in the barrel 6; this one is inserted in
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the communication duct 3 between the evaporative burner and the tank 2, so that the level of the burner 1 is always automatically reestablished in the barrel.
To allow the adjustment of the quantity of oil passing through the communication pipe 3 towards the burner? this conduit contains a valve 7 with key 8 present? starting from the closed position, a peripheral groove of progressively increasing section acting as a passage channel. To prevent that during the filling of the tank the atmospheric pressure acting inside the filling tube also acts on the surface of evaporation of the oil inside the burner? the arrival of oil to the evaporative burner is stopped in the known ppa reils.
According to the invention, the complete extinction of the burner flame is avoided by providing the axis of the valve key with a disc 10 intended to mask the orifice of the dip tube 4 and having a notch in its periphery. 11 (or a similar orifice) which unmasks the orifice of the dip tube in a determined intermediate position of the key 8 and, consequently of the disc which is integral with it, while the section of the peripheral channel Sa is reduced so as not to allow passage in the direction of the evaporating burner only enough oil to prevent the flame from going out.
As soon as the reservoir is again completely filled with oil, the disc 10 is brought back, using the lever 12, to the position) marked in any suitable manner, in which the valve 8 serves as an organ. regulator of the quantity of oil intended for evaporation.
The apparatus which is the subject of the invention does not require any maneuver other than the rotation of the disc 10 carried out with the aid of the handle 12 to unmask and to re-mask the filling orifice 4a of the plunger tube 4 and to ensure the 'flow regulated automatically.'! as well as the continuous combustion of the oil.
It goes without saying that modifications can be made to the apparatus which has just been described, in particular by substituting equivalent technical means, without going beyond the scope of the present invention.
