The present invention relates to a filtering device, characterized in that it comprises an external container in which is mounted at least one tubular chamber, the wall of which is formed by a helical spring, the space between the turns of the spring forming a continuous filtration passage between the chamber and the vessel.
An exemplary embodiment of the object of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 is a section along the line I-I of Figure 2.
Figure 2 is a section along the line II-II of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a sectional view on a larger scale of a tubular chamber and
Figure 4 is a plan view corresponding to Figure 3. @
The device shown comprises several tubular chambers a (Figure 1), mounted in an external container 1.
: The longitudinal wall of. each chamber a is constituted by a helical spring 2. The space between its turns forms a helical and continuous passage between the interior of the chamber a in question and the interior of the container 1.
The container 1 is divided by a horizontal wall
3, into two chambers 4 and 5. The tubular chambers a are attached to the wall 3 and are located in the lower chamber 5. The upper end / of each spring 2 is attached to a plug 6 forming a further. '.. if a support fixed to the wall 3. The lower end of the spring 2 is fixed to a second plug 7 carried by a threaded rod at its upper part at 9 and screwed into the plug 6.
By turning the rod 6 - by means of a pin passed through its hole 10, the length of the spring 2 can be adjusted as desired. The section of the passage for the fluid to be filtered is thus adjustable.
After the chamber springs a have been adjusted in the manner indicated above, these chambers are fixed to the wall 3. For this purpose, they are introduced into holes 11 in this wall. The chambers a are then fixed by means of an intermediate part 12, through which passes the threaded end of the rod 8, and of a nut 13, screwed onto said end.
The plugs 6 have two longitudinal holes 14 communicating the interior of the chambers a with the chamber 4.
The container 1 has an inlet opening 15 in the chamber 5 and an outlet opening 16 in the chamber 4. The fluid (liquid, gas, etc.) introduced passes through the orifices.

of the distribution tube 17, the chambers a, the holes 11 on either side of the parts 12, the chamber 4 and the spring filtered in
16. A flow 18 is provided for the sludge and other foreign matter removed by the filtering. The device described could naturally be arranged horizontally, that is to say rotated by 90. It would then be sufficient to move the flow 18 so that it is again under the chamber 5.
The supply and evacuation pipes. are shown in dotted lines in Figure 1. By means of the taps 19, it would be possible to reverse the direction of the current, either to clean the springs 2, or to filter in the opposite direction. In the latter case, the inlet would be in 16 and evacuation in 18.
If the springs 2 are tension springs, there is no filter passage when the springs are at rest. If the springs 2 are pressure springs, the filter passage is fully open when the springs are at rest. In its simplest form, the device has only one chamber a.
The device described is applicable for filtering liquid or gaseous fluids or even solids, that is to say in pulverulent form.
It is in particular advantageous for filtering solvents such as trichlorethylene or denatured alcohol, recovered during the washing of fabrics.
