The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of seleno-semicarbazones substituted in position 4 with a hydrocarbon radical starting from the corresponding substituted selenosemicarbazides. It relates in particular to the preparation of 4-alkoly-selenosemicarbazones, of which, in particular, ethyl-4-seleno-semicarbazones and aryl 4-selenosemicarbazones, including, in particular, phenyl-4-selenosemicarbazones, corresponding to the formula
EMI1.1
general Rl-NH-C-NH-N = R2y in which RI represents an alkyl or aryl radical Se and R2 an alkylidene or arylidene radical.
This invention further relates to the novel compounds obtained by the preparation process described herein.
To prepare these substituted selenosemicarbazones, not yet described in the literature, and some of which are susceptible
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
For industrial or therapeutic applications, under determined operating conditions with the corresponding substituted selenosemicarbazides, ketone or aldehyde carbonyl compounds, both purely aliphatic or aromatic and mixed, are condensed.
To this end, reacting, in stoichiometric amounts, in a preferably aqueous medium, slightly acidulated, with acetic acid or another analogous organic acid, a selenosemicar- bazide substituted in position 4 by a hydrocarbon radical, for example alkyl, such as the ethyl radical, or aryl, such as the phenyl radical, with an aldehyde or a ketone, operating according to the reactivity of the products used, at room temperature or slightly elevated. The precipitate of 4-alkyl or 4-aryl selenosemicarbazone obtained is recrystallized from a suitable solvent, for example toluene or acetic acid.
The non-limiting examples below illustrate the operating mode of the process according to the invention:
EMI2.1
1st example: Preparation of 4-ethyl selenosemicarbazone from 2-metoxybenzaldehyde.

A precipitate of 8.5 g of yellowish crystals of 4-ethyl selenosemicarbazone (which represents a crude yield of 92%) immediately forms which, on recrystallization from toluene gives (with a yield of 65%) 6 g. of pure product of a PF -
