Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to a pressure-balanced inflation station intended to allow at will, after connection with the valves of two different tires of the same vehicle or of different vehicles, and by acting on buttons or on control levers, to balance the pressure between these two tires, to measure said pressure, to successively control the pressure of each of the tires, to increase or decrease it.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   To this end, the inflation station according to the present invention is characterized in that it comprises a distribution block provided with a first normally closed valve, the opening of which makes it possible to connect the air source. compressed to a chamber 'from which the air distribution pipes leave to two different pneumatics, two other valves, normally open, making it possible to interrupt the circuit-. of one or the other of these pneumatic, and a fourth valve, normally closed, - the opening of which puts the common chamber into communication with the atmosphere, where the two air distribution pipes open out to the two different tires.

   The station is completed by a pressure gauge normally in -communication with the chamber where the air distribution pipes open to the two tires; this pressure gauge is preferably isolated from this chamber when the latter is placed in communication with the source of compressed air so as to avoid harmful pressure surges on the pressure gauge.

   Thanks to this arrangement, it is possible at will to balance the pressure between the two tires, to inflate or deflate one or the other of the two tires or both simultaneously; simultaneously check the pressure of both tires or individually check the pressure of each of them.

   The station can advantageously be completed by an arched transparent tube, with concavity upwards, visible from the outside, and in which a ball can roll, this arched tube being able for example to be inserted in the distribution circuit of one of the tires. ; in this way, the position occupied by the ball in the arcuate tube defines the pressure difference between the two tires, which the user can thus check himself immediately.

   The accompanying drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the present invention.

   Fig. 1 is an overall view of the station.

   Fig.2 schematically shows the structure of said station.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   The apparatus shown comprises a base 1 surmounted by a housing 2 with a dial 3 and an arcuate tube 4, made of glass, in which a ball 5 can roll; the base 1 are mounted the control levers 6 and 7 and the distribution pipes 8 and 9 emerge from said base.

   The distributor unit 10 has connections 11 with the compressed air supply, 12 with the pressure gauge 3, 13 with one of the tubes 8 for supplying a tire, via the arched tube 4. , and 14 with the tube 9 for feeding the other tire.

   The chamber 15 into which the compressed air supply 11 opens is normally closed off by a valve 16, compressed by the spring 32; this valve is raised, it makes the chamber 15 communicate with the chambers 17 and 18 in permanent communication into which the pipes 13 and 14 respectively open; the outlet of these chambers can be closed by valves 19 and 20 which springs 21 and 22 normally maintain in the open position.

   The chambers 17 and 18 also communicate with a chamber 23 capable of being placed in communication with the atmosphere by lifting the valve 24 which the spring 25 normally maintains pressed on its seat.

   A pipe 26 makes the various chambers 17, 18 and 23 communicate with each other, as well as a chamber 27 extending from the chamber 15 and separated from the latter by the valve 16.

   The manometer pipe 12 is normally connected to this chamber 27 by a pipe 28 pierced in the pusher 29. At the moment when pressure is exerted on this pusher 29, in antagonism with the action of the spring 30, the lower end of the conduit 28 is closed by the stem of valve 16 and closes communication with manometer 3; valve 16 can only be lifted after this blockage, and inflation can then take place.

   The control of the valves 16 and 24 can be obtained by means of the pivoting lever 7 ,, and that of the valves 19 and 20 by means

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 swivel lever 6.

   The operation is then as follows:
Assuming that the ends of the distribution pipes 8 and 9 have been connected in a conventional manner to the valves of the two tires of one of the trains of a vehicle which one wishes to perfect the inflation or to check the balancing, one can proceed as follows :
First of all, if one does not operate! no action on levers 6 and 7, the position of the ball 5 in the arched cube 4 indicates the existence of a pressure difference between the two tires in question; is achieved moreover quickly since there is free communication between them, the ball then coming into the central position marked by the marks 31.

   Simultaneously, the needle of the pressure gauge 3 indicates the pressure of the tires since the pipe 12 is connected through the pipe 28 and the pipe 26 with the chambers 17 and 18 communicating with the tires checked.

   To check each of the tires individually, it suffices to maneuver lever 6 in one direction or the other, to isolate one of the tires from the pressure gauge, the other remaining in contact with it.

   For the simultaneous inflation or deflation of the two tires, one acts in one direction or the other on the lever 7, the pressure gauge being isolated from the pressurized air supply at the time of inflation, which avoids jerks that could damage it; if it is desired to inflate only one of the tires, it is necessary to act simultaneously on the lever 6 to isolate the other tire by closing the corresponding valve 19 or 20.

   This distributor block is advantageously completed by any device, not shown, making it possible to block one of the two valves 19 or 20 before disconnecting or connecting the distribution pipes 8 and 9, and preventing in any case that in the event of disconnection or connection of one of the pipes 8 or 9, the tire corresponding to the other pipe is in communication with the atmosphere and can, therefore, deflate.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   It is understood that the embodiment of the invention which has been described above with reference to the appended drawing has been given purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and in particular that the distributor unit can be produced in such a manner. different, and that instead of being mounted in a station, such as that which has been described and shown, it can be produced in any other form and in particular constitute an element of small dimensions easy to transport near the place of use.
