<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to bags for transporting objects, of the type of paper bags reinforced along the edges bordering the mouth by pieces of cardboard or other material, the reinforced edges having the form of flaps or panels which can be folded up. ; internally in opposite directions, so that the bag has, in substance, the shape of a box.
Its aim is to achieve an improved form of a box-type bag incorporating simple attachment means for maintaining the bag in the closed state.
A bag, box-shaped and established in accordance with the invention, comprises at its upper edge two flaps made of cardboard or other reinforcing material, these flaps being capable of pivoting inwardly in opposite directions, so as to be superimposed, the lower flap supporting one or more handles of rope or of another kind, suitable for passing through one or more

upper flap slits so as to secure the flaps to each other and to close the bag.
The two flaps protrude from the mouth of the bag on either side thereof and, in this case, the bag may be provided with auxiliary flaps facing inward and arranged under the main flaps to form a complete closure.
It is preferable, however, that the two auxiliary flaps and the main flaps are attached in such a way, to each other, that they form an upward extension of the mouth of the bag, this extension being able to be folded along lines. foldings suitably placed so as to completely close the mouth of the bag.
In accordance with another feature of the invention, each slot in the top flap includes a relatively wide central portion through which the handle can easily pass, the slot converging along its edges towards its ends; the edges of the bag material, which border the narrower parts of the slot, gripping the handle by the friction action and preventing any tendency of the top flap to move up on the handle in the open position, and the weight of the bag and its contents, when worn, tending to drive the handle of rope or the like into the constricted end portions of the slit.
The invention also aims to provide improved means in association with such a bag, making it possible to support inside it a garment or similar article, the bag being associated for this purpose with a coat rack which can be detachable or else. form an integral part of the bag.
The drawings show, by way of example, several embodiments of the invention.

Fig. 8 is a section on 8-8 fig. 6.
Figs. 9 and 10 show, in perspective, a bag incorporating an integral coat rack.
Fig. 11 shows the coat rack used.
Fig. 12 shows, in perspective, how a specially shaped coat rack can be mounted in the bag.
The preferred embodiment of the bag used according to the invention and intended to transport various objects, is that according to which the bag is given the shape of a box, this bag being capable of being folded flat (fig. 1). while, unfolded and ready to receive objects, it presents the form shown in fig. 2.
The bag 1 is provided, at its mouth, with reinforcing pieces or flaps 2 and 3 made of cardboard or other material, placed internally, the piece 2, which constitutes the lower piece of the two, having a rectangular shape and covering all there. width of the mouth of the bag. On the other hand, part 3 has its upper corners cut at 45, to facilitate folding.
The flap 2 supports one or more handles 5 made of rope or the like (two are shown although one is sufficient in the case of a relatively narrow bag). The handles 5 are shaped entirely as a closed loop, in rope or string, and pass
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
@ through holes 6 in the shutter 2, so that they protrude upwards out of it, being spaced apart from one another.
The shutter 3 has two spaced slits 7, relatively wide towards their center to allow the handles to enter easily, each slit narrowing towards its ends, which terminate in holes 8. The desired goal for this shape particular slot will be indicated later.
If it is assumed that the objects have been placed in the bag, the flap 2 is first folded internally in the position shown in fig. 3. The end flaps 9 are then folded internally in the position shown in fig. 4 and the handles pass through slots 7, the shutter 3 then being folded inward and downward in the position shown in fig.5.
A force is then applied to the handles to make them coincide with the holes 8, these being of a diameter such that the material of the bag surrounding the holes clamps the handles and prevents the flap from going up on the handles and does not lift from the closed position. which could be favored by the narrowed shape of the slits towards their ends.
It is understood that in this position the bag is completely closed and that the contents are perfectly protected.
To facilitate folding of the bag, it has suitably placed fold lines.
As can be seen clearly in fig 9; 10 and 11, the bag may include a door-coat integral with the form. the simplest, namely a strip 10, of cardboard or other relatively rigid material, stapled or otherwise fixed to the underside of the shutter 2, the strip 10 being capable of bending along line 11, in a position where it hangs from of component 2: towards
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
down and at right angles.
The strip 10 is cut as seen at 12, so as to form a longitudinally disposed slit, through which can pass a garment or the like, which in this way can be properly hung. The indentation 12 may be continuous so that the material in the center of the hanging portion of the strip is removed to form the slot, or it may be non-continuous, as shown, which constitutes a flap 13 can be curved downwards so as to form, as seen in FIG. 11, a relatively rigid bar on which the garment or the like is suspended.
The variant, shown in fig. 12, comprises a wire coat rack 14 of special construction, provided with an arm 15, the branches of which pass through the loops of the handles, so that the coat rack is supported inside the bag. Such an arrangement has the advantage that a garment can first be placed on the coat rack, and then the latter, together with the garment, is introduced into the bag. It is then possible to remove the coat hanger with the item of clothing and hang it in a cloakroom using hook 16.
For convenience of manufacture, the two flaps 2 and 3 may include identical slits obtainable in a single operation, the undesirable parts of the slits, in the flap 2, being covered by a sheet of paper or the like 14 as is done. seen in fig. 3. Still, the shutter 2 may simply have four holes, suitably spaced apart, through which the rope constituting the handles has been passed.
