charpente appropriée ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

DEVICE FOR PARTIAL OR TOTAL IRON @ ER A FLEXIBLE FLOW HANDLE AT THE BASE OF A HOPPER
In certain industries, such as, for example, soap factories, it is necessary to avoid any metallic contact with certain powdery products, these powdery products are stored in large ironies in canvas supported by a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
appropriate frame;
the bottom of the hoppers have one or more flexible sleeves for the flow of products by gravity
Various devices have been tried for regulating the flow of the products in the emptying sleeves, but they have been found to be insufficient or ineffective because they have too low resistance or operate too slowly.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by creating a robust device with simple and easy operation.
It is characterized in that the flexible sleeve is passed through a stirrup formed by two parallel bars of a length at least equal to the half-perimeter of said sleeve and secured by end crossbars, one of the bars being mounted on the support frame of the hopper so as to be able to pivot on its longitudinal axis under the action of actuators adaptable to at least one of its ends while the second bar has a ring at each end to be able to slide on the Parallel end cross members fixed on the pivoting bar so that, when this said first bar is rotated around its longitudinal axis in one direction or the other, this second bar can move closer to or away from the first bar by its own weight and tighten the sleeve or released it.
It is further characterized in that the operating member (s) for causing the main bar to pivot about its longitudinal axis comprises or comprises a latching device for fixing the position of the stirrup in a determined position to partially or completely close the soft handle.
According to u @ preferred embodiment, the pivoting bar is integral near its ends with a disc which it passes through or at its center and which comprises on its periphery or near oelle-oi notches or perforations in which it is possible to press a locking pin that rests on the frame
The accompanying drawings show schematically, by way of non-limiting example, one embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the canvas hopper, provided with two emptying sleeves, the opening and closing of which
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
are controlled by the device of the present invention, said hopper being carried by a frame of tubes specially adapted to be able to superimpose several hoppers and to place the hopper on a forklift.
FIG. 2 schematically represents the position of the essential elements of the caliper in the fully open position of the emptying sleeve,
FIG. 3 diagrammatically represents the position of the essential elements of the stirrup in the position of complete closure of the same sleeve.
Figure 4 is a plan view of the caliper in the open position *
FIG. 5 is a side view of a support bearing for the pivoting bar.
Figure 6 is an elevational view of the end of the slide bar shown in plan in Figure 7
Figure 8 shows the perforated disc intended to raise the position of the caliper by means of the pin shown in Figure 9.
FIGS. 10 and 11 represent respectively from the end and in profile the operating lever of the caliper.
The canvas hopper consists of an upper compartment 1 of parallelepiped shape surmounting at its base a pyramidal part 2 extended by two flexible sleeves of substantially rectangular section 3a and 3b.
This canvas hopper is carried by a suitable frame, advantageously constituted by tubes of circular section, and this frame rests on two angles 4a and 4b open downwards, as shown in Figure 1, so as to allow super @@@ @@ several hoppers by placing these angles 4 on @@@ @on suckers 5a and 5b.
To make it possible to stack several hoppers, two other angles 6a and 6b are provided at the base of the frame, under which the teeth of the fork of the lifting device are housed.
Of course all the elements of the support are properly
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
braced and braced and joined together securely, by welding by; example.
According to the invention, a device is provided for each sleeve to partially or completely close it. For this purpose, two U-shaped sections 7 and 8 have been fixed to the angles 6a and 6b on which the main axes of the closing devices are mounted so as to be able to pivot in bearings 9 and 10.
Each device, called "stirrup" consists of a bar or a tube of circular section 11, near each end of which is firmly fixed a cross member 12 and 13, perpendicular to the direction of the rod 11 and retained in this direction by struts 14 and 15.
Another bar or rod of circular section 16 and which comprises at each end a ring 17 or 18 can slide by said rings on the crossbars 12 and 13 when the bar 11 is pivoted in the bearings 9 and 10.
As shown more particularly in FIG. 8, each end of the bar or of the tube 11 has been machined to present a polygonal section, square for example, in order to regevoir by force-fitting a portion of tube of the same profile, square for example. - ple, 19 to one end of which a disc 20 has been welded, comprising equidistant holes 21 on its periphery, the purpose of which will be indicated below.
On each portion of tube 19 can fit \ va manohon of the same profile 22 on which is fixed a maneuvering lever arm 23 terminated by a suitable handle 24, made of rubber or similar material for example.
It is recommended to fix the sleeve 22 on the tube portion 19 and on the bar 11 by a suitable pin passed through the holes 25 and 26 provided for this purpose.
The stirrup, consisting essentially of the bars 11 and 16, is mounted on the supports 7 and 8 so that the main bar is tangent to the wall 27 of the sleeve 3 and there is provided on this wall 27 of the sleeve 3 a slide e @ canvas of similar material 28 which envelops the be.rre 11. On the other hand it is provided on the wall
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
opposite 29 of the marl handles a longer slide 30 which covers the bar 16 in a free way as shown in FIG. 2.
Naturally the useful length of the stirrup, in other words the distance which separates the crossbars 12 and 13, is at least equal to the half-perimeter of the sleeve 3 so that the latter can be crushed between the two bars 11 and 16 when the latter ae closer to bar 11,
In order for this bar 16 to come closer to the bar 11, one acts on the operating lever (s) 23 to cause the bar 11 to pivot around its longitudinal axis as indicated by the arrow 31 in FIG. 2.
As a result, the bar 16 moves in the slide 30 and tends to bring the wall 29 of the sleeve against the wall 27, but at the same time the bar 16 has moved from position 161 to position 162 (figure 3) as a result of its own weight * In this half re position, the two walls 27 and 29 are clamped against each other as indicated more particularly in Figure 3.
In the embodiment of a hopper with two discharge sleeves, provision is made, as shown schematically in FIG. 2, to rest the wall which separates the two sleeves on a sheet metal part 32 fixed to a support tube. longitudinal 33,
It can be seen that by operating the levers 23 properly, the stirrup can be made to pass from the horizontal position to a position close to the vertical position and thus close the evacuation sleeve *
To keep this sleeve closed, or to adjust its opening, the position of the stirrup can be fixed by placing a dowel 34 (figure 9) in one of the holes 21 of the disc 20 so that this dowel s 'press on support 8.
Of course, the operating member and the device for fixing the position of this member can vary without departing from the scope of the present invention.
