Abstract

"COMPOSIçãO NUTRICIONAL". A presente invenção refere-se a uma composição para um suplemento nutricional para pacientes convalescentes, recuperando-se de doença ou cirurgia, aqueles com apetite limitado, tais como o idoso, as crianças ou os pacientes anoréxicos, ou aqueles que têm capacidade reduzida de digerir outras fontes de proteína, tais como as pessoas tendo gastrite crónica, que têm digestão de pepsina gástrica reduzida. O suplemento compreende (i) uma fonte de proteína que proporciona pelo menos cerca de 8% das calorias totais da composição e que inclui pelo menos cerca de 50% em peso de proteína do soro do leite; (ii) uma fonte de lipídio tendo uma razão de ácidos graxos ómega 3:6 de cerca de 5:1 a cerca de 10:1 e que proporciona pelo menos cerca de 18% das calorias totais da composição; (iii) uma fonte de carboidratos; e (iv) um perfil de macronutrientes balanceados compreendendo pelo menos a vitamina E e a vitamina C.
