Abstract

"MéTODO PARA MODIFICAçãO DE PLANTA, MORFOLOGICAMENTE, BIOQUIMICAMENTE E FISICAMENTE". A presente invenção se refere a métodos para estimulação do crescimento da raiz e/ou intensificação da formação de raízes laterais ou adventícias e/ou modificação do geotropismo da raiz compreendendo expressão de uma oxidase de citoquinina vegetal ou compreendendo expressão de outra proteína que reduz o nível de citoquininas ativas em plantas ou partes de planta. Também proporcionados pela presente invenção são métodos para aumento do tamanho e/ou peso da semente, tamanho e/ou peso do embrião e tamanho e/ou peso do cotilédone. Os métodos compreendem expressão de uma oxidase de citoquinina vegetal ou expressão de outra proteína que reduz o nível de citoquininas ativas em plantas ou partes de planta. A invenção também se refere a novas proteínas de oxidase de citoquinina vegetal, seq³ências de ácido nucléico que codificam proteínas de oxidase de citoquinina, bem como vetores, células hospedeiras, células transgênicas e plantas compreendendo as referidas seq³ências. A invenção também se refere ao uso das referidas seq³ências para melhora de características relacionadas à raiz, incluindo aumento do rendimento e/ou intensificação do vigor precoce e/ou modificação da proporção de raiz/broto e/ou melhora da resistência à derrubada por tempestades com vento ou chuva forte e/ou aumento da tolerância à estiagem e/ou promoção da propagação in vitro de explantes e/ou modificação da morte celular e/ou desenvolvimento da planta e/ou morfologia da planta e/ou bioquímica da planta e/ou fisiologia da planta. A invenção também se refere ao uso das referidas sequências nos métodos acima mencionados. A invenção também se refere a métodos para a identificação e obtenção de proteínas e compostos que interagem com proteínas de oxidase de citoquinina. A invenção também se refere ao uso dos referidos compostos como um regulador do desenvolvimento de uma planta ou herbicida.
