Abstract

"DESATIVADOR DE METAL PARA POLìMEROS CATALISADOS COM COBALTO". Vários benefícios podem ser atingidos com a utilização de trans-1,4-polibutadieno em compostos de borracha para pneus. Por exemplo, a resistência verde dos compostos de borracha para pneus pode ser melhorada pela inclusão de trans-1,4-polibutadieno. A inclusão de trans-1,4-polibutadieno em compostos de borracha para pneus também é benéfica porque é cristalização sob deformação. Entretanto, devido a seu elevado ponto de fusão, normalmente é necessário aquecer o trans-1,4-polibutadieno para que ele seja processado com equipamento de misturação convencional. Essa etapa de aquecimento é tipicamente realizada por armazenamento do trans-1,4-polibutadieno em uma "estufa" durante alguns dias antes de seu uso. Durante esse período de armazenamento, o polímero tipicamente sofre uma reticulação oxidativa indesejável, que é causada por catalisador de cobalto residual, e gera a formação de gel. De fato, a formação de gel pode tornar o trans-1,4-polibutadieno não processável. Esta invenção se baseia no achado inesperado de que certos ácidos benzóicos substituídos, como ácido salicílico, ácido tiossalicílico e ácido acetilsalicílico, agem como desativadores de metais em polímeros. Com a utilização da técnica desta invenção, cobalto residual e/ou outros metais, como níquel, que agem como pró-oxidantes em polímeros, como trans-1,4-polibutadieno, podem ser desativados. Esta invenção, mais especificamente, apresenta uma composição de trans-1,4-polibutadieno estabilizada, que é composta por trans-1,4-polibutadieno e um ácido benzóico substituído, selecionado no grupo que consiste em ácido salicílico, ácido tiossalicílico e ácido acetilsalicílico.
