Abstract
"PROCESSO PARA O TRATAMENTO DE áGUA RESIDUAL CONTENDO METAIS PESADOS" é divulgado um processo para o tratamento de água residual contendo metais pesados, no qual componentes de enxofre ou metálicos são biologicamente reduzidos para precipitar os metais como espécies metálicas insolúveis em água, que são separadas da água residual. A redução biológica e a precipitação de espécies metálicas são realizadas em um leito de areia em movimento, no qual partículas de areia parcialmente imobilizam as bactérias e retêm as espécies metálicas precipitadas, a água residual tratada é separada das espécies metálicas precipitadas, e as espécies metálicas precipitadas são subseq³entemente separadas das partículas de areia. Metais como selênio e urânio podem ser precipitados sem componentes de enxofre, enquanto que metais como antimónio, cádmio, cobre, zinco e similares são precipitados como sulfetos.
