Abstract
Procedimiento para el tratamiento de aguas residuales que contienen metales pesados, caracterizado porque: (a) las aguas residuales se tratan de forma continua con bacterias que se encuentran al menos parcialmente inmovilizadas sobre partículas de arena en un lecho de arena en movimiento, para reducir los componentes de azufre y/o metales y para precipitar los metales como especies metálicas insolubles en agua; (b) las aguas residuales tratadas se separan continuamente de las partículas de arena que retienen a las especies metálicas precipitadas; (c) las especies metálicas precipitadas se separan de forma continua de las partículas de arena empleando las aguas residuales tratadas como aguas de lavado; y (d) las aguas de lavado residuales tratadas usadas en la etapa (c) se separan de las especies metálicas precipitadas y se retornan a la etapa (a).
