Abstract
MéTODO PARA REMOVER OXALATO DE SóDIO DE UM LICOR DE BAYER E APARELHO PARA O MESMO. O processo Bayer usa solução de hidróxido de sódio quente para obter alumina pura a partir de minério bauxita. Alumina dissolve, sendo então precipitada, e o licor de Bayer cáustico restante pode ser reciclado para uso novamente. No entanto, oxalato de sódio tende a se acumular no licor reciclado e causar problemas. Ao remover uma corrente do licor, tratando o mesmo de modo a ficar supersaturado com oxalato de sódio, e então submeter o mesmo à irradiação ultra-sónica, são formados núcleos de cristal. Os cristais resultantes podem ser então separados do licor. De forma surpreendente, outros compostos orgânicos em solução não impedem que este processo de cristalização seja eficaz.
