Abstract
MÉTODO PARA MONITORAR UMA ESTRUTURA ALONGADA FLEXÍVEL. Uma estrutura alongada flexível tal como um suspensor flexivel (10), compreendendo pelo menos uma camada (20) de fios de aço perto da superficie que se estende pelo menos em parte ao longo do comprimento da estrutura, pode ser monitorada através da indução de um campo magnético nos fios de aço usando uma bobina eletromagnética, e monitorando a densidade do fluxo magnético perto da superficie da estrutura a fim de detectar caso alguns fios tenham se rompido. Medições são feitas em duas freqUências diferentes, a freqUência mais baixa dando uma saída dependente tanto das tensões como do número de fios adjacentes na camada (20), e a freqUência mais alta dando uma saída primariamente dependente do número desses fios. Comparando-se essas duas medições, um parâmetro de saída corrigido (P) pode ser obtido, o qual é indicativo somente de tensão. Uma ruptura em um fio pode ser esperada para mudar a tensão naquele e em fios adjacentes. [Figura 4]
