Description
Process for the production of a yellow vat dye. It has been found that the reddish-tinged yellow, sulfur-containing vat dye described in the main patent No. 99286 can also be obtained in such a way that, instead of the azomethine compound from benzidine and a 2-methylanthraquinone compound of the type
EMI0001.0007
to sulfur, from a benzidine compound sulfurized in the o-position to the amino groups, z.
B. Di-o-mercaptobenzidine, runs out and this condenses with the 2-methylanthraquinone compound. Instead of the di-o-mercaptobenzidine can be used with the same success compounds that provide intermediate di-o-mercaptobenzidine in the reaction, such.
B. the. Corresponding disulfide or in Swiss Patent No. 92579 be written, obtainable by the action of chlorine sulfur on benzidine dithiosulfochloride
EMI0001.0023
as well as the dithiosulfoxide obtainable therefrom with water
EMI0001.0025
Example: 30 kg of anthraquinone-2-aldehyde, 22 kg of benzidinedithiosulfoxide, 15 kg of molten sodium acetate are suspended in 360 kg of nitrobenzene and the whole is boiled for about 7 hours.
The precipitated dye is filtered off while hot and washed out with nitrobenzene and alcohol. To rid him of any impurities, you can go exactly as indicated in the main patent ver and the dye brought into fine distribution, for example by dissolving in sulfuric acid and reprecipitation with water, with oxidizing agents such. B. sodium hypochlorite, treat. The pure dye is an orange colored powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a yellow-orange color. The dye is insoluble in most organic solvents. Cotton is dyed in reddish yellow tones from the olive-brown colored vat.
The colors are wash, chlorine and lightfast. The dye is therefore identical to the dye of main patent no. 99286.
