Gradual change of speed. The present invention relates to a progressive change of speed.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of the first; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the <U> corner '</U> command of the worm; Fig. 3 is a schematic view showing the application of this change of speed to the propulsion of an automobile; Fig. 4 is a plan view of the second embodiment.
The DC planet wheels of the differential, mounted on the spider b, are driven by the shaft c of the motor. The sun gear d transmits the motor force to the shaft e and from there to the driven shaft. The sun gear f is mounted idle on the shaft c and is made integral with a toothed wheel g, engaged with a worm lt mounted on the axis i. On the latter is a sliding keyed roller j, which moves on the different radii of a plate k, receiving its movement by a chain k2 of the main shaft c.
To avoid friction between the roller <I> j </I> and the plate 7c, it is preferable to provide the pitch of the screw h so that the helical graining is reversible.
When the sun gear f is stationary, because the roller <I> j </I> is in the center of the plate <I> k, </I> the shaft a rotates at double the speed of the motor shaft c.
When the sun gear f rotates at the same speed as the sun gear d, the shaft e rotates at the same speed as the shaft cl, when the sun gear f rotates twice as fast as the motor shaft c, the shaft e is motionless.
Finally, when the sun gear f rotates at a speed greater than twice the speed of the shaft c, the shaft e rotates in the opposite direction.
It can therefore be seen that the speeds of rotation of the shaft e are directly dependent on the speed of rotation of the planetary f. However, the latter has a constant tendency to be driven by the satellites and, as the transmission by the endless screw is reversible, a slight drive given to the latter is sufficient to obtain the desired speed of rotation of the planetary. f. This slight drive is obtained by the friction of the roller j on the plate k, where it moves by means of a fork controlled by a lever.
The <I> 7th </I> plate can be controlled by gearing, or even be independent of the shaft c and take its movement on a particular source of energy, a low-power electric motor; etc.
It is represented in FIG. 3 an application of this speed change to the propulsion of an automobile. The gear change is mounted before the differential, of which it controls the satellites; the motor shaft 1, by means of the bevel gears in m2 drives the planet wheels n which rotate around the shaft l) on which are mounted, at one of its ends, one of the rear wheels of the car, for example, and , in the other a planetary p of the differential of the automobile.
The satellites n rotate between two planetaries q <I> r; </I> one q is integral with the shell s of the differential of the automobile on which the spider t of its satellites 12 is mounted; the other r is integral with the toothed wheel 2t meshing with the worm v, whose rotation is controlled by the plate v2 on which the keyed friction roller v3 moves on the shaft v4, which receives its movement from the motor shaft 1 by the conical gears 12.
The second planetary ii; The differential of the automobile is mounted on the x-shaft which carries the second rear wheel of the automobile.
Reversing the car with <B> Mo- </B> bile can be obtained either by rotating the sun gear r at a speed greater than twice the crown m2, or by reversing independent of the system described.
The roller vs keyed sliding on the v4 shaft is controlled by means of a fork and a lever by the driver of the car.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 4 is more particularly suitable for automobile gear changes, because it makes it possible to avoid the high speeds supported by the endless screw and the resistant shaft in the previous systems. In this construction, use is made of the rotation of a differential cage transmitted by means of spur gears by the helical pinion, the control of which by endless screw is irreversible.
On the motor shaft 1 is keyed a planetary 2 which actuates another planetary 3 via the planet wheels 4. whose common axis 5 drives a differential cage 6, mounted on ball bearings.
The sun gear 3 is keyed on the driven shaft 7, while the differential cage 6 is integral with a spur gear 8 engaged with a gear 9 mounted on the axis of the helical gear 10, which is irreversible and actuated itself. even by the worm 11, by means of the roller 12 and the plate 13.
Placed in the center of the plate 13, the roller 12 is stationary and retains the cage 6 of the differential, by means of the screw 11 and the helical pinion 10.
This results in the drive of the driven shaft 7 at the same speed, but in the opposite direction to the drive shaft 1. When, as a result of the movement of the roller 12, the speed of the cage 6 becomes equal to half of the speed of the motor shaft 1, the sun gear 3 and consequently the driven shaft 7 remain stationary.
If cage 6 rotates faster than half the speed of shaft 1, resistive shaft 7 starts to rotate in the direction of shaft 1.
The described speed change system can be used to control machine tools, agricultural machinery, motor cycles and others, without having to change its principle.
