Time-setting mechanism in watches. The present invention relates to a mechanism for setting the time in the watches, which comprises a rotating rod for setting the time, not radial, but in an eccentric transverse position, connected by a transmission gear to the wheel. minutes of the watch. Preferably, this time-setting rod is combined with a crown wheel, which may be coaxial with said rod, and which is secured in rotation with the latter and is arranged to be brought in or out of engagement with a mobile of said transmission gear.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of a wristwatch provided with this form of execution; Fig. 2 is a similar view, the time-setting mechanism being shown uncovered and in the time-setting position; Fig. 3 is a partial view similar to the previous one, but on a larger scale and showing the mechanism in the state of non-concept ment; Fig. 4 is a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3.
The watch case 10 contains a clockwork movement 11, of the automatic winding type for example, in which the oscillating body 12 pivoted on a central axis serves to cause the winding of the ball by virtue of the movements of the wearer of the watch. the watch, the oscillations of this winking bone body being limited by stops 13 indicated schematically. The organs serving to transmit the oscillating movements of the oscillating body 12 to the spring barrel of the watch are not shown here.
The usual minute wheel 14 is arranged as usual and controls the hands 15. The plate 16 of the clockwork movement carries transmission wheels 17, 18; of which that 17 meshes with the minute wheel 14 and that 18 with the wheel 17.
In a bridge 19 is mounted, so as to be able to rotate and slide, a rod 20 not extending radially, ruais having a laterally eccentric position, as shown in FIG. 2. This rod 20, or shaft, carries a crown wheel 21 which is arranged to be able to mesh with the wheel 18.
A rod 22 is also mounted so as to be able to turn and slide in the bridge 19 and penetrates at one end into a hollow of the rod 20, with which it is connected by a sliding coupling so as to be able to slide relative to the rod. the rod 20 within certain limits, this coupling consisting according to FIG. 3 in a projection provided on the time setting rod 22 engaging in a recess in the rod 20 carrying the crown wheel 21. A coil spring 24 surrounds the rod 20 and rests against the wheel in crown 21; it has a tendency to move the rod 20 axially so as to bring the crown wheel 21 into engagement with the transmission wheel 28.
The time-setting rod 22 has a low-cut part and instead of the latter a collar 25 with which coo father a leaf spring 26 forming an elastic stop device to keep the rod 22- is in the position of time setting shown in fig. 2, or in the non-operating or rest position shown in FIG. 3. The rod 22 protrudes outside the watch case 10 and carries an operating button 27 therein.
Normally, the different parts are kept in the position shown in fig. 3, the crown wheel 21 being out of engagement with the transmission wheel 18. To set the time of the watch, the rod 22 is pulled to bring it to the position shown in FIG. 2, thereby allowing the coil spring 24 to move the rod 20 axially to bring the crown wheel 21 into active engagement with the wheel 18, after which, by turning the rod 22, the minute wheel 14 can be rotated and set the hands on time.
After - setting the time, the rod 22 is pushed back to the position of FIG. 3 to disengage the crown wheel 21 from the wheel 18, the aforementioned sliding coupling being suitably established to then drive the rod 20 axially against the spring 24. The parts will be held in this position by the action of the leaf spring 26 which is more powerful than coil spring 24. Crown wheel 21 is thus kept free from wheel 18, except when rod 22 is intentionally moved.
Any possibility of damaging the cog or of breaking the mechanism is practically avoided by the fact that the crown wheel 21 is engaged with the wheel 18 by the effect of the spring 24 and not directly by the manual traction on the wheel. rod 22.
The time-setting mechanism as described is of very simple and inexpensive construction and the time-setting rod 22 is located so as to avoid the cog used for winding the mainspring in dependence on the oscillations of the body. oscillating above.
