Process for the preparation of 1-iodo-8-ogynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid. It has been found that the previously unknown 1-iodo-8-oxynaphthalene sulfonic acids can be obtained if the diazo group in the corresponding 1-diazo-8-ogynaphthalene sulfonic acids is replaced by iodine in a known manner.
The process is carried out for example in such a way that the diazo compounds are heated with hydroiodic acid; In some cases it is more advantageous to decompose the diazonium iodides by means of copper powder, or other methods can also be used. Isolation is done by salting out or concentrating, etc.
The new 1-iodine-8-oxynaphthalene sulfonic acids are mostly more or less easily soluble in water, colorless or only slightly colored bodies, which are z. B. recrystallize as acid sodium salts from a little hot water; they should be used for therapeutic purposes and as intermediates in the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations.
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of 1-iodo-8-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid, which is characterized in that 1-diazo-8-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid is mixed with copper bronze in the presence of hydriodic acid treated. Example: 50 g 1,8-aminonaphtol-4-sulfosaures sodium are dissolved in 75 cm 2 N sodium hydroxide solution, mixed with 250 cm ice and water, with 70 cm 10 N Sulfuric acid precipitated the acid again and the thick pulp was dissolved with a solution of 10 grams of sodium nitrite in 40 cm3 of water, dianotized.
The diazo compound is suctioned off, suspended in 250 cm 'of ice water and 75 cm' of hydroiodic acid spec. Weight 1.7 offset. After adding 10 grams of copper bronze, nitrogen begins to develop and the red color gradually turns light flesh red. After the reaction has ended, it is filtered, the clear yellow filtrate is saturated with solid sodium chloride and the precipitate obtained is recrystallized from 150 cm- 'boiling water.
When it is cold, greenish leaflets are excreted, which are suctioned off and dried; they contain 34% iodine and 9.2% S, while the calculated values for C1oH704JS are 36.2% I and 9.1% S.
The new compound can serve as an intermediate for the preparation of dyes and pharmaceutical products.
