Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung einer neuen stickstoffhaltigen organischen Verbindung. Die Erfindung betrifft die Herstellung einer neuen stickstoffhaltigen organischen Verbindung, nämlich des Octadecylcarbamat- methylpyridiniumnitrats der Formel C,sH3, O-CO-NH-CH2- N(C,H")-N03, durch Umsetzen von Methyloloctadecyl- carbamat mit Pyridinnitrat.
Die neue Verbindung ist ein weisser, kri- stallischer Festkörper, der sich in heissem Wasser leicht löst unter Bildung von Lö sungen, welche beim Schütteln schäumen. Wenn diese Lösungen heiss gehalten werden, so zersetzt sich die Verbindung, es bildet sich ein Niederschlag und die Schäumkraft geht verloren. Die neue Verbindung eignet sich zum Imprägnieren von Textilmateria lien, um diese wasserabweisend zu machen.
Die Umsetzung wird zweckmässig in Ab wesenheit von Wasser und vorzugsweise in Gegenwart eines indifferenten Verdünnungs mittels, wie z. B. Benzol, Äthylendichlorid oder Pyridin, durchgeführt. <I>Beispiel:</I> 6,8 Teile Pyridinnitrat, 5 Teile Methyl- oloctadecylearbamat und 25 Teile Pyridin werden verrührt und zusammen während 18 Stunden auf 70 bis 75 C erhitzt.
Das Ge misch wird hierauf gekühlt und mit Äther verdünnt, wobei das Octadecylcarbamat- methylpyridiniumnitrat in Form farbloser Kristalle ausgefällt wird. Diese werden ab filtriert, mit Äther gewaschen und getrock net.

The invention relates to the production of a new nitrogen-containing organic compound, namely octadecylcarbamate methylpyridinium nitrate of the formula C, sH3, O-CO-NH-CH2-N (C, H ") - NO3, by reacting methylol octadecyl carbamate with pyridine nitrate.
The new compound is a white, crystalline solid that dissolves easily in hot water, forming solutions that foam when shaken. If these solutions are kept hot, the compound decomposes, a precipitate forms and the foaming power is lost. The new compound is suitable for impregnating textile materials to make them water-repellent.
The reaction is conveniently carried out in the absence of water and preferably in the presence of an inert diluent, such as. B. benzene, ethylene dichloride or pyridine performed. <I> Example: </I> 6.8 parts of pyridine nitrate, 5 parts of methyl oloctadecylearbamate and 25 parts of pyridine are stirred and heated together to 70 to 75 ° C. for 18 hours.
The mixture is then cooled and diluted with ether, the octadecylcarbamate methylpyridinium nitrate being precipitated in the form of colorless crystals. These are filtered off, washed with ether and getrock net.
