Description

Additional patent to main patent no. 208929. Process for the production of cellulose which reacts with dianotized aromatic amines to form a washfast colored cellulose derivative. It has been found that cellulose which reacts with dianotized aromatic amines to form a washfast colored cellulose derivative is obtained if cellulose is treated with a solution of N-oxymethyl salicylic acid amide in the presence of an acid and the treated material is heated on it.

For example, formic acid can be used as the acid. The temperature to which the treated and appropriately dried cellulose is to be heated is advantageously chosen between 100-150o.

The cellulose treated in this way, a solid, colorless material, reacts with dianotized aromatic amines to form a washable, colored cellulose derivative.

For the specified process, protection is only claimed insofar as it is not a question of a treatment of textile fibers for the purpose of their finishing that is considered in the textile industry. Example: cellulose is impregnated in a 10% solution of N-oxymethylsalicylic acid amide containing 0.3 to 0.5% formic acid for 15 minutes at 40-50 °, squeezed off , dried at 50-60o, and heated to 110-115o for 4 hours.

After washing with boiling hot; Water and drying results in a cellulose, on which the action of dianotized aromatic amines, such as. B. dianotized aniline or dianotized 1-amino-2-methoxy-4-nitrobenzene, washable Färun gene can be generated.
