Description

Process for the preparation of a higher molecular weight α-substituted Benzylamiusulfonsäur e. The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of a higher molecular weight, α-substituted benzylamine sulphonic acid, characterized in that N - acetyl - N - methyl - a - undecylbenzylamine is sulphated.

As a sodium salt, the new sulfonic acid forms a pale powder that is easily soluble in water and whose aqueous solutions show considerable foaming power. It can be used as a detergent and wetting agent and as a lime soap emulsifier.

<I> Example: </I> 0.1 hol of the N-methyl-a-undecylbenzylamine obtained according to the information in additional patent no. 211795 is refluxed with 0.2 hol acetic acid chloride for 6 hours, then mixed with water, extracted - ether and the ether solution washed with dilute soda solution. The ether is distilled off.

The remaining acetyl-N-methyl-a-undecylbenzylamine forms a Uels 01. 0.1 Hol of the same are dissolved at 0 in 100 parts of monohydrate and slowly sulfated at this temperature with 40 parts of 26% oleum. After 2 hours, the sulphonation mass is introduced into 500 parts of ice and neutralized at 0 to 10 'with sodium hydroxide solution. After evaporation and drying, a light-colored powder that is easily soluble in water is obtained.

The solution shows quite a foaming power.
