Description

Process for the preparation of a new, water-soluble dye for dyeing and printing acetate silk. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new, water-soluble dye for dyeing and printing acetate silk, according to which diazotized 6-chloro-2: 4-dinitraniline is coupled with Nn-butyl-N-sulfatethyl-m-toluidine .

<I> Example: </I> 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite are added to 150 parts of 100% sulfuric acid and the mixture is stirred until everything has dissolved. 21.8 parts of 6-chloro-2: 4-dinitroaniline are added to this solution over the course of 11/2 hours with stirring. After stirring was continued for a short time, the solution obtained is heated to 50-55 ° C. and kept at this temperature for 2 hours.

It is then cooled to? 0-25 ° C. and the solution is slowly stirred, while stirring, to a solution (containing ice) of 30.9 parts of the sodium salt of Nn-butyl-N-sulfate ethyl-m-toluidine (that too Nn-butyl-N-ss-hydroxyäthyl- m-toluidine sulfuric acid ester is called) in 400 parts of water containing 13.6 parts of sodium acetate was added.

From time to time ice is added in order to keep the temperature of the coupling medium at or below 0 C, and gradually a 40% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide is added to the extent that the coupling medium is just barely at Congo red paper reacts sourly.

After the entire ge sulfuric acid solution has been added, the suspension of the new dye obtained in this way is made alkaline with sodium hydroxide, stirring every now and then to completely convert the dye into its sodium salt; the dye is then filtered off and dried. If necessary, the moist dye paste can be leached with water or 5% aqueous sodium chloride solution to remove adhering @Tatriunisulfate before drying.

The new. The dye forms a dark brown powder which is soluble in hot water with a bluish-violet color and in lon-centered sulfuric acid with a yellowish-red color. It dyes acetate silk on a neutral or alkaline dye (which contains 1% sodium chloride, in a light-violet shade of very good lightfastness.

The colors are easily etchable. The dye is also eminently suitable for printing acetate silk.
