L'installation représentée schématique ment dans la fi-. 1 comporte deux cylindres 1 et 2, destinés à actionner les freins qui agis sent sur les roues ou autres organes porteurs d'un véhicule logés sur les côtés opposés de celui-ci, et 3 est un distributeur-régulateur ayant pour but d'envoyer aux cylindres 1 et 2, à travers des tubes 4 et 5, 6 et 7, 8, le fluide sous pression, ce fluide provenant d'une con duite d'alimentation 9,, 10;
La chambre 23 est en communication avec la. chambre 21 à travers un conduit 27, 28, 29 contrôlé par une soupape d'interception 34; d'une façon analogue, la chambre 24 est en communication avec la chambre 21 à travers un conduit 31, 32, 33 contrôlé par une sou pape d'interception 34; les deux soupapes 30 et 34 sont coaxiales et reliées l'une à l'autre de façon que lorsqu'une d'elles ferme le con duit correspondant 29 ou 3'3, l'autre desdites soupapes laisse son conduit 33 ou 2'9 ouvert et vice versa;
Lorsque le fluide sous pression provenant du tube 5 agit dans le dispositif, il passe d'abord à travers l'orifice 215, la chambre 23 et le conduit 37 et va agir dans le cylindre 36 de façon à déplacer le piston 3:5 et la sou pape 30, et par conséquent la soupape 34 et le piston 38 (qui sont couplés avec les organes 35, 30) dans le sens produisant l'ouverture de la soupape 30@ et la fermeture de la soupape 34;
Si, pendant que la soupape 34 est ou verte, le fluide s'écoulant du tube 13 au cy lindre de frein 1 à travers la soupape auxi- liaire correspondante 5'4, on établit, -à travers l'autre tube 5., l'alimentation de fluide sous une pression plus élevée que la pression qui agit dans le tube 13', la paire de pistons 35, M renverse sa position sous l'action de la plus grande pression qui, dans -ces conditions, agit dans le cylindre 36 et produit la ferme ture de la soupape 34 et l'ouverture de la soupape 30;
Device for the automatic coupling of a receiving line with one or the other of two supply lines of a pressurized Iluide. The present invention relates to a positive device for the automatic coupling of a receiving pipe with one or the other of two supply pipes of a pressurized fluid.
The device according to the present invention finds one of its applications in the case where a receiving pipe connected to two supply pipes must be supplied automatically by that of these two supply pipes - in which the pressure of the fluid is the highest.
The device which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that the communication of the receiving line with the supply lines is controlled by a pair of interception valves, one of which is closed when the other is open and vice versa., while said interception valves are controlled by the effect of the pressures which act in the supply lines so as to automatically establish communication between the receiving line and that of the two supply lines in which the highest pressure prevails,
by cutting off the communication of said receiving line with the other supply line.
The device forming the subject of the present invention is particularly applicable in vehicle brake installations; in which the brakes are subjected in. at the same time with two distinct commands carried out with: the aid of a pressurized fluid, and where the brakes must always be actuated by that of the two commands which, at the moment considered, is in a condition to develop. most energetic action.
An embodiment of the present invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the diagram of a pressurized fluid installation in which an embodiment of the device forming the subject of the present invention is used, while FIG. 2, is a section of this device.
The installation shown schematically in fi-. 1 has two cylinders 1 and 2, intended to actuate the brakes which act on the wheels or other carrying members of a vehicle housed on opposite sides thereof, and 3 is a distributor-regulator intended to send to cylinders 1 and 2, through tubes 4 and 5, 6 and 7, 8, the pressurized fluid, this fluid coming from a supply pipe 9 ,, 10;
each of the brake cylinders 1, 2 can also receive the pressurized fluid from a corresponding distributor-regulator 11, 12 which is connected to the respective cylinder 1, 2 through respective tubes 13, 14, as well as to the supply line 10 through tubes 15, 18. The distributor-regulator 3 is ordered.
by means of a brake lever, not shown, in order to apply the brakes to the same degree on both sides of the vehicle, while the distributor-regulators 11 and 12 are controlled by the steering mechanism of the vehicle so as to produce the application of the brakes on either side of the vehicle, in a manner and in a manner which depends on the maneuvers of the steering of the vehicle.
Between the tubes 6 and 5, 13, on the one hand, and 8 and 7, 14, on the other hand, are inserted two positive devices 16, 17 constituted by one embodiment of the device according to the invention. Each of these devices is capable, as described below, of automatically establishing the coupling of the tube 6, respectively 8, with that of the tubes 5 or 13, respectively 7 or 14, where the pressure a., At the instant considered, the higher the value.
Said embodiment of the device according to the invention, shown in section in FIG. 2, comprises a body 20 in which are formed a chamber 2,1 to an orifice 22 of which is connected the receiver tube 6, which ends in the brake cylinder 1, as well as two chambers 2,3. and 24 having ports 25 and 26 which are connected to tubes 5 and 13, terminating respectively in distributor-regulators 3 and 11.
Room 23 is in communication with the. chamber 21 through a duct 27, 28, 29 controlled by an interception valve 34; similarly, the chamber 24 is in communication with the chamber 21 through a conduit 31, 32, 33 controlled by an interception valve 34; the two valves 30 and 34 are coaxial and connected to each other so that when one of them closes the corresponding duct 29 or 3'3, the other of said valves leaves its duct 33 or 2'9 open and vice versa;
the pair of interception valves 30, 34 are controlled in opposite directions by pistons 35, 38 which slide in cylinders 36, 39 which are connected, through conduits 37, 40- , in rooms 233, 24 respec tively.
The -chambers 41 and 43 of the cylinders, which are opposite their active chambers 3'1,5, 3 @ 9,., Have orifices 42, 44 opening into the atmosphere in order to avoid the actions of backpressure <would interfere with the operation of pistons 35, 38 and valves; 3 (- I, 34.
In each of the conduits 27, 3.1 which connect, under the control of the interception valves 30, 3 @ 4, the chambers 2.3, 24 with the chamber 21, is inserted a double valve with automatic opening formed by a movable ring 45 , 51 guided by fins 46, 52 and recalled on the. mouth of the duct 27, 31 by a spring 47, 5-3; an auxiliary valve 48, 54 is mounted on each ring 45, 51 and is returned to its closed position by a spring 49, 55, which bears on the respective ring 45, 511 and on a cross member 50, 56 disposed on the stem of the auxiliary valve 48, M.
When the pressurized fluid from tube 5 acts in the device, it first passes through port 215, chamber 23 and conduit 37 and will act in cylinder 36 so as to move piston 3: 5 and the valve 30, and consequently the valve 34 and the piston 38 (which are coupled with the members 35, 3 0 ) in the direction producing the opening of the valve 30 @ and the closing of valve 34;
when the pressure existing in the chamber 213 has reached the value necessary to produce the opening of the auxiliary valve 4a8 against the action of its spring 49, this spring being calibrated so as to allow the opening of the valve 48 only after the described operation of the valves 30, 34 has taken place, the pressurized fluid passes (through line 2.7, 28, "and the lumen of valve 30 which, as described, is open) into the chamber 2,1, this fluid then flowing to the brake cylinder 1 through the tube 6.
A similar operation takes place in the case where the compressed fluid is sent to the chamber 24 @ through the tube 13. while the pressurized fluid is not acting in the chamber 23; under these conditions the flow of fluid from tube 13 to cylinder 1 is obtained by the effect of opening valve 34, while valve .3,0 takes its closed position and cuts off the communication of chamber 2s3 with room 21.
In any case, any communication of the two supply lines between them is prevented and when the supply of the fluid through the tube 5 or 13 ends, the fluid returns from the tube 6 into the respective supply line through the chamber 21 and the duct 219, 2'8, 57 or through the duct 33, f2, 31 as well as through the lumen of the valve 3.0 or 34 respectively, because in this case the pressure of the compressed air which acts on the head of the auxiliary valve 48 and on the ring 45 or on the components 54, 51, causing the double valve 48, 45 or 54, 51 to move away from its seat,
after which these self-opening double valves both remain closed and the flow of fluid is cut off regardless of the position taken by the pair of pistons and valves 35, 30 and 30, 34 which are no longer subjected to the pressure. 'ac tion of the pressurized fluid in the cylinders 36, 39-.
If, while the valve 34 is or green, the fluid flowing from the tube 13 to the brake cylinder 1 through the corresponding auxiliary valve 5'4, it is established, through the other tube 5., the supply of fluid under a pressure higher than the pressure which acts in the tube 13 ', the pair of pistons 35, M reverses its position under the action of the greatest pressure which, in -these conditions, acts in the cylinder 36 and produces the closing of the valve 34 and the opening of the valve 30;
consequently, the action of the fluid coming from the tube 13 is suppressed and, in the brake cylinder 1, acts the fluid under a greater pressure, supplied by the tube 5, while the intercommunication of the supply lines is always cut.
In the installation shown in fig. 1, a similar operation takes place with regard to the brake cylinder 2 -which is placed in communication with the tubes 7, 4 by a device 17 similar to that shown in FIG. 21, which cuts off communication with tube 14.
In the installation shown, it is thus obtained that when the brake application is produced by the distributor-regulator 3 controlled by hand while the brakes on one side of the vehicle are applied under the action of the corresponding distributor-regulator, such as 11 or 12, which is actuated by the steering mechanism, -and when the braking established by the hand control is more forceful than the braking established by the steering mechanism, the latter braking action is removed and the braking established by the hand control acts alone,
this braking acting on both sides of the vehicle.
