Description

Plaque photosensible.

  Si, pour faire apparaître la     même        photo-          graphie        en        ri        chef        et        en        noir,        on        se        contentait     de supprimer de l'ensemble 1-6 le filtre tri  chrome     3-4,    les lentilles 5 du     sélecteur    -opti  que viendraient s'appliquer     directement,contre     l'émulsion 2 et ne se trouveraient plus alors  écartées de celle-ci de la distance égale à leur  longueur focale;

Photosensitive plate. The present invention relates to a photosensitive plate applicable to relief and color photography.

The photosensitive plate, object of the invention, is characterized by the combination, with a photosensitive surface, of a tri chrome filter with lined elements immediately in contact therewith, and an optical selector array with cylindrical lenticular elements. refractive elements crossed with the lines of the filter and preceding this one in the path of the mayons, at registration.

The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, some embodiments of the plate forming the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 shows in horizontal section, and without consideration of scale, a first embodiment of the plate forming the subject of the invention, making it possible to obtain a photograph in relief and in colors.

Fig. 2 represents the same plate, part of which has been removed so that the image it bears appears in relief and in black. Fig. 3 schematically shows the trichromatic filter of this plate, seen from the front. , Fig. 4 shows in the same way the optical selector of -this plate.

Figs. 5 and 6 relate to two other embodiments of the plate according to the invention.

In the photosensitive plate shown in fig. 1, a support for the photosensitive emulsion 2 has been designated at 1, at 3 a tri-chromium filter whose lines, alternately red-orange, blue-violet and green, for example, are shown horizontal in the figure, at 4 a support transparent of this filter, for example stack consisting of a glass, in 5 the cylindrical lenses of an optical selector. which are perpendicular to the lines of the filter,

and at 6 a transparent support for this selector, also formed by a glass of the same thickness as the glass 4, that is to say of a thickness equal to the focal distance of the Gentilles 5 of the optical selector.

The couditicus of the recording of such a sensitive plate are assumed to be known. It will only be recalled that the light rays 7, which pass through the assembly shown in FIG. 1 in the direction indicated by the arrow, are first refracted by the lenses 5, and come to impress - different points of the emulsion 2, depending on their angle of incidence.

Before reaching the emulsion, -these rays are partially intercepted by the lines of the filter 3, which filter, among the colored rays directed by each lens 5 towards a determined point of the emulsion'2, stop those whose color -is complementary to that of each of -these lines. A first selection is therefore made by refraction, with a view to obtaining the relief, and a second selection by subtraction, intended to obtain the color.

In fact, each cylindrical lens 5 gives rise in the emulsion, not to a point, but to a vertical line 8, the lines of the trichrome filter 3 being crossed with it (perpendicular to the lines 8 in the particular headings considered ), each line 8 is thus subdivided, over its entire height, into an infinity of groups of three points, of intensity corresponding to the coloring of the corresponding parts of the subject.

The cliché 1, 2 is then separated from the two "screens, developed, frozen and dried. Any number of prints are drawn by contact, in front of each of which a double selector 3.-5 similar to the one used is placed in registration. Due to the known principle of the reverse return of light rays, color and relief appear when such a print is examined by transparency.

  If, in order to show the same photo- graph in head and in black, we were satisfied to remove from the assembly 1-6 the tri chrome filter 3-4, the lenses 5 of the -opti selector that would be applied directly. against emulsion 2 and would then no longer be separated therefrom by the distance equal to their focal length;

these lenses would no longer be in focus and the photograph would become unserviceable. It is to remedy this drawback and allow the instantaneous transformation: of a photograph in relief and in colors into a photograph in relief and in black that the plate of glass 4, which acts as a support for the trichrome filter 3, -and the glass plate 6, which acts as a support for the optical selector 5, are both of a (thickness equal to the focal length of-, lenses 5.

It then suffices, as shown in fig. 2, to return the selector 5-6 when you want to remove the three-color filter 3-4. Under these conditions, the distance which separates the lenses 5 from the emulsion 2 is still equal to the focal length of. lenses, and the photograph remains correctly observable in black and in relief.

Fig. 5 shows a second! embodiment in which the filter 3 and the selector 5 belong to a common support 4, so as to reduce as far as possible the thickness and the weight of the assembly. By adopting this embodiment, a "mixed" selector is formed capable of giving both relief and color when used in combination with a suitable camera. In this figure, the photosensitive layer 2 and its support 1 have been shown in phantom lines.

Finally, the embodiment shown in FIG. 6 constitutes a photosensitive plate which is both "autostereoscopic" and "autochrom.e". This plate is obtained by starting from the mixed selector that the plate of FIG. 5 and by depositing the photosensitive layer directly on the three-color filter 3 at 2.

Such a plate, after development and inversion, gives the relief @and the: color, when it is examined by transparency. But, given that we have not: effected the inversion of the image generally ensured by the printing of the positive proofs starting from the negative, we will have to interpose in the path of the rays, during the shooting, a any known device performing this reversal. All @and tracking operations,

assembly are eliminated by means of this embodiment, for the benefit of very high precision and extremely reduced handling. A significant gain in weight and thickness is also ensured.

However, the photosensitive plates of FIGS. 5 -and 6 do not allow you to switch from the color image to the black image, as in the first embodiment described.

Throughout the foregoing discussion - it has been assumed, for the sake of simplicity, that the thickness of the optical selector and that of the tri-chrome filter were negligible and, consequently, only the thickness was discussed. supports for these two elements. It is obvious that, otherwise, the thicknesses of the selector and the filter must be taken into account to determine that of their respective supports.

Finally, it should be specified -that the photosensitive plate described and shown must of course be placed in a redief and color camera, so that the lenses 5 of the optical selector are oriented vertically, for - that their selective action can be exerted in the direction of the ocular base, and thus allow the observer the stereoscopic vision.
