L'appareil représenté est utilisé comme suit Le robinet 11 est raccordé à un cylindre de gaz sulfureux sous pression, c'est-à-dire à l'état liquide, l'appareil étant retourné de fa çon que ce robinet 17. soit en bas et le robi net 14 en haut; le robinet 11 est ouvert, puis le robinet 14 de manière à laisser échapper l'air contenu dans le tube 1; ce dernier se remplit alors de gaz sulfureux à l'état li quide; lorsque la quantité désirée est obtenue, on ferme le robinet 14, puis le robinet 11, qui est ensuite séparé du cylindre de gaz sulfu reux; l'appareil est alors retourné et le robi net 14 est relié, par l'intermédiaire d'un tuyau, à un fût destiné à recevoir le gaz sul fureux;
Apparatus for metering sulphurous gas intended to be introduced into a receptacle containing a drink. Apparatus for dosing sulphurous gas from tines to be introduced into a receptacle containing a drink, characterized in that it comprises a graduated tube of transparent material, against the ends of which are pressed two flanges assembled by means of rods, each of these flanges being pierced with a conduit communicating, on the one hand, with said graduated cylinder and, on the other hand, with a valve, a metal protective tube which surrounds the graduated tube and which is fixed to said flanges, this tube protective having two longitudinal openings allowing the graduation thereof to be read, and a base fixed to one of the flanges.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
FIG. 1 is an elevational view thereof in partial section, and FIG. 2 is a sectional view along I-I of fig.1.
The apparatus shown comprises a graduated glass tube 1, against the ends of which are pressed two brass flanges 2 and 3, assembled by means of three rods 4 row ted at one of their ends 5 so as to be able to be screwed into the flange 2 and fitted at their other end 6 with a nut 7 making it possible to tighten a base 8 against the flange 3. The wall of this base has a notch 9 to give stability to the device if it is placed. on a barrel. The upper flange 2 is pierced with a duct 10 communicating, on the one hand, with the tube 1 and, on the other hand, with a filling valve 11; the lower flange 3 is pierced with a duct 12 connected by the intermediary of a pipe 13 to a drain valve 14.
A protective metal tube 15 surrounds the tube 1 and has two longitudinal openings 16 and 17 making it possible to read the graduation 19 that the said tube has 1. The tube 15 carries two movable sliders 20 capable of being blocked by means of screws 21 arranged so as to be movable along a longitudinal slot 22.
The apparatus shown is used as follows: The tap 11 is connected to a cylinder of sulphurous gas under pressure, that is to say in the liquid state, the apparatus being turned upside down so that this tap 17. is in operation. bottom and the robi net 14 on top; the tap 11 is open, then the tap 14 so as to let the air contained in the tube 1 escape; the latter then fills with sulphurous gas in the liquid state; when the desired quantity is obtained, the valve 14 is closed, then the valve 11, which is then separated from the sulphurous gas cylinder; the apparatus is then returned and the robi net 14 is connected, via a pipe, to a barrel intended to receive the sulphurous gas;
one of the sliders 20 is brought opposite the upper limit of the liquid contained in the tube 1, and the other slider 20 to a height such that the volume of the sulphurous liquid contained between them is equal to that which should be introduced into the intended barrel; finally, the tap 14 is open for the time necessary for the liquid between the two sliders 20 to pass into the barrel to be treated.
The apparatus shown can be used to treat ciders or wines contained in wooden vases or concrete vats.
