Additional patent to main patent No. 221004. Aqueous dispersion. The subject of the present additional patent is a stable aqueous dispersion which contains carbamide-aldehyde condensation compounds and high-polymer hydrocarbons. The aqueous dispersion can also contain pigments.
Aqueous dispersions according to the invention are stable and excellently suitable for producing adhesive coatings on any type of substrate. They can also be used with advantage to fix pigments, cl. H. So for the production of pigment colors or prints are used. The coatings obtained have high adhesive strength and resistance to the usual treatment processes.
Carbamide-aldehyde condensation compounds are e.g. B. urea or thiourea-formaldehyde condensation compounds into consideration.
The condensation compounds of urea, thiourea with aldehydes, in particular formaldehyde, can be used in the form of water-soluble and water-insoluble condensation products. The latter are advantageously used as solutions in organic solvents or as aqueous dispersions with or without a content of organic solvents. You can also use before geous those precondensation products that are produced by condensation of the components in the presence of mono- or polyhydric alcohols.
Highly polymeric hydrocarbons are saturated or unsaturated high-polymeric aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbons, for example high-polymer cyclohexene, propylene, butylene, isobutylene, and also mixtures or copolymers of these compounds. These substances can, for example, by polymerisation, e.g.
B. at -50 or below, or by treatment with aluminum halides and optionally hydrogen halides in the presence of halogenated hydrocarbons. Highly polymeric diolefins such as butadiene, isoprene and their derivatives are also suitable. Copolymers of butadiene with olefins, eg. B. styrene. The highly polymeric compounds mentioned are insoluble in water.
According to the process, they are used in the form of their aqueous dispersions with or without a content of organic solvents and additives which promote dispersion. The aqueous dispersions can contain the water as both an inner and an outer phase.
The carbamide-aldehyde condensation products and the high-polymer hydrocarbon compounds can be applied to the goods by immersing them in the dispersions. Softeners, dispersants, e.g.
B. polyvinyl alcohol, condensation compounds from Äthylenoxycl and higher molecular weight aliphatic see alcohols or alkylphenols, soaps and. a. used.
will. Advantageously, condensation accelerators are added, such as organic acids or compounds which split off acids, for example ammonium rhodanide, ammonium oxalate, aluminum sulfate, etc. In the production of the coatings or when printing on the binders, white or colored pigments, eg.
B. titanium dioxide, chrome yellow, iron oxide, vat dyes, insoluble azo dyes, etc. also use. In the preparation of printing pastes, suitable thickeners such.
B. water-soluble cellidose ether, tragacanth, locust bean gum thickening are also used. After application to the goods, temperatures are expedient. heated to 100 C and above in order to obtain good fixation.
By using the above-mentioned high-polymer compounds and the condensation compounds together, a number of advantages are achieved over the use of the components alone. So is z. B. in most cases the temperature required for the real washing fixation on the fibers during the aftertreatment is lower for the combination than for the components alone, which contributes significantly to protecting the fiber material. If the combination. of polymeric products is used with the condensation products to fix pigments on fibers. This often means that prints or dyeings are much stronger in color and more resistant to rubbing than when using the condensation products alone.
At the same post-treatment temperature, the fastness to washing of the dyeings and prints is better with the combination than with the polymeric compounds alone.
