Zusatzpatent zum Hauptpatent Nr. 303663. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines metallhaltigen Azofarbatoffes. Es wurde gefunden, dass man zu einem netten, wertvollen, metallhaltigen Azofarbstoff gelangt, wenn man auf den Monoazofarbstoff der Formel

chromabgebende Mittel derart einwirken lässt, dass ein chromhaltiger Azofarbstoff entsteht, der zwei Monoazofarbstoffmoleküle an ein Chromatom komplex gebunden enthält.
Der neue Farbstoff bildet ein braunrotes Pulver, das sich in Wasser mit orangeroter Farbe löst und Wolle aus neutralem bis essig saurem Bade in scharlachroten Tönen färbt.
Der als Ausgangsstoff dienende, der oben stehenden Formel entsprechende Monoazo- farbstoff kann durch Kupplung des 1-(3'- Chlorphenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolons mit nach an sieh bekannten Methoden, z. B. mittels Salzsäure und Natriumnitrit, diazotiertem 2 Amino-l-oxybenzol-5-methylsulfon hergestellt werden.
Die Behandlung mit den chromabgebenden Mitteln erfolgt, wie bereits erwähnt, in der Weise, dass ein chromhaltiger Farbstoff ent steht, der zwei Monoazofarbstoffmoleküle an ein Atom Chrom komplex gebunden enthält. Demgemäss führt man die Chromierung zweck mässig mit solchen chromabgebenden Mitteln und nach solchen Methoden durch, welche er fahrungsgemäss komplexe Chromverbindungen dieser Zusammensetzung liefern. Es empfiehlt sich im allgemeinen, auf ein Molekül eines Farbstoffes weniger als ein, mindestens aber ein halbes Atom Chrom zu verwenden und/ oder die Chromierung in schwach saurem bis alkalischem Medium auszuführen.
Demzufolge sind auch diejenigen Chromverbindungen, die in alkalischem Medium beständig sind, für die Durchführung des Verfahrens besonders gut geeignet, wie z. B. solche Chromverbindungen aliphatischer Oxyearbonsäuren oder vorzugs weise aromatischer o-Oxycarbonsäuren, welche das Chrom in komplexer Bindung enthalten. Die Chromierung geschieht mit Vorteil in der Wärme, offen oder unter Druck, z. B. bei Siedetemperatur des Reaktionsgemisches, ge gebenenfalls in Anwesenheit geeigneter Zu sätze, z. B. in Anwesenheit von Salzen organi scher Säuren, von Basen, organischen Lö sungsmitteln oder weiteren die Komplexbil dung fördernden Mitteln.
Beispiel: <B>18,7</B> Teile 2-Amino-1-oxybenzol-5-methyl- sulfon werden in 50 Teilen Wasser aufge schlämmt und nach Zusatz von 22 Teilen 301/oiger Salzsäure bei 0-5 mit einer wäs serigen Lösung von 6,9 Teilen Natriumnitrit diazotiert. Die mit Natriumcarbonat neutrali sierte Diazosuspension wird bei 10-l2 in eine Lösung aus 21 Teilen 1-(3'-Chlorphenyl)- 3-methyl-5-pyrazolon, 50 Teilen Wasser und 14,
0 Teilen 30 /oiger Natriumhydroxydlösung eingegossen. Die Kupplung verläuft sehr rasch. Der Farbstoff wird durch Hinzufügen von Natriumchlorid vollständig abgeschieden. Die durch Abfiltrieren gewonnene Farbstoff paste wird in 250 Teilen Wasser verrührt und mit 120 Teilen einer Lösung von chromsalicyl- saurem Natrium/Kalium mit einem Chrom gehalt von 2,6 /o sowie 6,7 Teilen 30o/oiger Natriumhydroxydlösung versetzt.
Das Ganze wird 3 Stunden am Rückfluss gekocht. Nach dieser Zeit ist die Chromierung beendet. Der chromhaltige Farbstoff wird durch Eindamp fen des Reaktionsgemisches im Vakuum iso liert.

The new dye forms a brown-red powder that dissolves in water with an orange-red color and dyes wool from neutral to acidic baths in scarlet shades.
The monoazo dye used as the starting material and corresponding to the above formula can be prepared by coupling the 1- (3'-chlorophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone using methods known per se, e.g. B. using hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite, diazotized 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-5-methylsulfone can be prepared.
The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents takes place, as already mentioned, in such a way that a chromium-containing dye is created which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to one atom of chromium in a complex. Accordingly, the chromium plating is expediently carried out with such chromium-releasing agents and by methods which, according to experience, provide complex chromium compounds of this composition. It is generally advisable to use less than one, but at least half an atom of chromium on a molecule of a dye and / or to carry out the chromating in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium.
Accordingly, those chromium compounds that are stable in an alkaline medium are particularly well suited for carrying out the method, such as.
