Hydraulic jack The present invention relates to a hydraulic jack, intended in particular for use on mobile devices such as lifting devices, and which, unlike other devices of the same type known to date, can be tilted and even spilled without the liquid it contains escaping.
The hydraulic cylinder according to the present invention comprises a working piston and its rod, mounted in a working cylinder containing a liquid on either side of said piston, the two chambers formed inside the working cylinder by the piston being joined together by a circuit comprising a control pump whose discharge side is connected, with the interposition of a check valve, to the working chamber of the working cylinder, and the suction side is connected directly to the other chamber of the working cylinder, and is charac terized in that the volume formed by the two chambers of the working cylinder and the circuit comprising the pump is sealed and entirely filled with said liquid,
and in that it comprises a sealed movable piston, one face of which is in contact with this liquid and the other face of which is subjected to the action of a spring so as to pressurize the entire quantity of liquid contained in the cylinder.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a section of a hydraulic cylinder. Fig. 2 is a section taken along line 11-11 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section of the second embodiment. The same reference numbers have been used to designate the same members in each of the two embodiments shown.
The jack shown in fig. 1 and 2 comprises a pumping cylinder 1, a working cylinder 2 and a compensating cylinder 3.
The pumping cylinder 1 communicates with the pressure cylinder 2 at its upper part through a passage 4; it also communicates with it at its lower part by a passage 5 in which is disposed a valve 6 normally applied to its seat 7 by a spring 8.
The piston 9 of the pumping cylinder 1 also comprises a valve 10 normally pressed on its seat 11 by a spring 12.
The rod 13 of said piston 9 emerges from said cylinder 1 through a plug 14 provided with a seal 15; a lever 16 makes it possible to operate the cylinder in question as a pump.
A piston 17 whose rod 18 emerges through a plug 20, with the interposition of a seal 21, can be slid longitudinally inside the working cylinder 2; the head 22, through which the forces of the jack are transmitted, is mounted on the upper part of said rod 18 with the interposition of tapered bearings 23.
The working cylinder 2 communicates at its upper part, through a passage 24, with the upper part of the compensating cylinder 3, filled with oil, on which the pressure of a spring 25 transmitted by a piston is constantly exerted. 26 provided, like the preceding ones, with a seal 27; this spring 25 bears on a threaded plug 28 engaged in the threaded lower end 29 of said cylinder 3, which allows you to adjust its initial pressure.
The passage 5 communicates with the passage 24 via a conduit provided with a valve 30 constantly urged towards its seat 31 by a res out 32, as can be seen in FIG. 2.
A control lever 33, integral in translation with a rod 34, thanks to a support washer 35 held by nuts and locknuts 36, can pivot around said rod on symmetrical ramps 37 which cause the translation. of said rod 34, compressing the spring 32 and releasing the valve 30, whereby the pressurized liquid contained in the cylinders 1 and 2, under the pistons 9 and 17, can, when desired, escape by a passage 38 and a pipe 39 to open into a lateral orifice 40 of a plug 41 closing off the cylinder 3; the liquid can thus enter through passages 24 and 42 into the upper parts of the working cylinder 2 and of the compensating cylinder 3.
By actuating this operating lever 33, it is therefore possible to return the piston 17 of the working cylinder 2 to its initial position by lowering its working head 22.
The jack shown in FIG. 3 comprises a pumping cylinder 1 connected to the working cylinder 2 on either side of the piston 17 by passages 4 and 5.
At the upper part of the working cylinder, which is closed by an unsealed stopper 40, a piston 41 is constantly biased by a spring 42 which maintains its lower face in contact with the upper face of the liquid which fills the cylinder 2.
Seals 43 prevent any leakage of liquid between the rod 18 of the piston 17 and the udder 41, and other seals 44 likewise prevent any leakage between this piston 41 and the inner surface of the working cylinder. 2.
It will be understood that, thanks to this construction, the oil or other liquid used in this cylinder has no communication with the atmosphere and therefore cannot escape, whatever the inclination of the cylinder and even if it is completely upset.
In this embodiment, the passage 5 is also connected by a duct provided with a valve with the upper part of the working cylinder.
