Additional patent to main patent No. 317119 Process for the production of azo dyes containing Ehrom of the pyrazolone series The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of chromium-containing azo dyes of the pyrazolone series. The new chromium-containing azo dyes of the pyrazolone series correspond to the formula in the metal-free state

available monoazo dyes treated with a chromium-releasing agent in such a way that a chromium-containing azo dye is formed which contains at least one chromium atom complexed to two molecules of monoazo compound. The coupling of the diazo compounds with the azo components is preferably carried out in an alkaline medium. The monoazo compounds formed are filtered off. Your transfer in the chromium-containing azo dyes can with salts of chromium, such as.
B. chromium fluoride, chromium sulfate, chromiformate, chromium acetate and potassium chromium sulfate, in aqueous slurry or solution or in an organic medium, for example in formamide or in the concentrated aqueous solution of an alkali salt of a low molecular weight aliphatic monocarboxylic acid,
are executed. Chromates, for example sodium or potassium chromate or bichromate, are also suitable for metallization.
It has been shown that particularly valuable metal-containing azo dyes are obtained if fewer than 2 atoms of chromium are used per 2 molecules of monoazo compound and, for example, the so-called 1: 2 complexes are produced.
The chromium-containing azo dyes obtained can, if appropriate, after the organic metallizing solutions have been poured into water, separated out from an aqueous medium by adding salt, then filtered off, if appropriate washed and then dried.
They have excellent neutral drawability for wool; they dye this fiber mostly from neutral and silk from a weakly acidic dye bath in full blue-tinged red tones of very good mill and wash fastness and excellent light fastness; they are also suitable for dyeing leather and, in a particularly excellent way, for dyeing artificial nitrogen-containing fibers, such as synthetic polyamide fibers (e.g. nylon, perlon).
In the examples below, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example 1 18.9 parts of 1-oxy-2-amino-4-chloro-6-nitrobenzene are dissolved in 200 parts of water with 14 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution. 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite are added to the solution and allowed to run into 30 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid and ice at 0-5. The resulting diazo suspension is made slightly alkaline with sodium carbonate and then mixed with sodium bicarbonate.
You are now left with an alkaline sodium hydroxide solution of 33.2 parts of 1- (2'-chloro) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-5'-sulfonic acid (2 "-oxy) ethylamide and 200 parts of water The monoazo dye formed precipitates completely; it is filtered off, washed and dried. It is a brownish black powder which dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with orange and in dilute sodium hydroxide solution with red color.
It dyes wool in real blue-tinged red tones using the single-bath chroming process.
To convert the monoazo compound into the chromium-containing dye, it is heated to 95 for 8 hours with 25 parts of sodium acetate and 40 parts of ammonium chromisulfate in 300 parts of formamide. The reaction mixture is allowed to cool to 20 to 25, it is then poured into 700 parts of water and the chromium complex compound precipitated after the addition of 50 parts of sodium chloride is filtered off. The filter cake is introduced into 600 parts of water and 10 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution at room temperature.
After several hours of stirring, 90 parts of sodium chloride are added to the mass; the deposited chromium-containing azo dye is then filtered off and dried. It is a brown-red powder that dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with an orange-red color and in water with a blue-tinged red color and dyes wool, silk and synthetic polyamide fibers from neutral to weakly acidic baths in full blue-tinged red tones of excellent boiling, washing and lightfastness .
Example 2 If in the above example the 18.9 parts of 1-oxy-2-amino-4-chloro-6-nitrobenzene are replaced by the equivalent amount of 1-oxy-2-amino-4-methyl- 6-nitrobenzene, a chromium-containing azo dye with similar properties is obtained.
Example 3 A likewise valuable chromium-containing azo dye is obtained if, in Example 1, the 33.2 parts 1- (2'-chloro) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-5 ' - sulfonic acid (2 "-oxy) -ethylamide by 31.5 parts of 1- (2'-methyl) -phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-5'-sulfonic acid- (2" -oxy) -ethylamide or 32.7 parts 1- (2'-methoxy)
- phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone - 5'-sulfonic acid- (2 "-oxy) -ethylamide or 34.6 parts 1- (2'-chloro) phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone-5 '-sulfonic acid- (2 "-oxy) - propylamide replaced.
In the table, further chromium-containing azo dyes are listed which can be prepared according to the procedure described in Example 1 be. They are characterized by diazo and azo components. The shades of their dyeings on wool are bluish red.
