Recording apparatus, in particular for monitoring the progress of railway vehicles The present invention relates to a recording apparatus, in particular for monitoring the progress of railway vehicles by recording, on a continuous tape, various information such as time, speed, signals, etc ...
An attempt has been made to obtain an apparatus of this type which makes daily operations as simple as possible and in particular the installation and removal of the recording tape which must be able to be done quickly and without complicated handling. If wear-resistant styles are used, the strip can be made from scratch-off paper, in which case it is necessary to avoid the accumulation of dust loosened by the styles inside the device. In addition, such an apparatus can be designed so that the mechanic can check the accuracy of the inscriptions made on the tape.
The internal mechanism of the apparatus may not be ac cessible during operation, measures may be taken to nevertheless allow, at any time, the replacement of lamps illuminating a dial. Finally, it is sought that the various components of the apparatus are easy to assemble, adjust and control.
The apparatus which is the object of the present invention is characterized in that it comprises a charger for the installation and removal of a recording tape, the charger comprising a supply reel, a table of writing, a take-up reel and means of connection with a drive mechanism of said tape.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a general perspective view. Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are detail views of lamp fixing members included in this embodiment.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the internal mechanism of this embodiment.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a charger shown in FIG. 5.
Fig. 7 is a section of the charger of FIG. 6, by the axes of the coils.
Fig. 8 is a section of the loader by a plane perpendicular to the axes of the reels.
Figs. 9 to 11 are schematic views showing how the charger is put in place.
Fig. 12 is a view of an operating mechanism included in the charger.
Figs. 13 and 14 are respectively a front view and a perspective view of members that this embodiment comprises.
The apparatus shown comprises a housing 1, the base plate 2 of which is provided with tabs 3 enabling the apparatus to be fixed in the driving position of a vehicle.
The front of the case has a glazed window 4 behind which is located a dial 5 comprising a speed scale 5a, in front of which can move a needle 5b, a window 5c for drums 5d of a odometer and a 5th watch.
The window 4 extends below the dial 5 so as to make visible various writing styles 6 and the zone of a recording tape 7 situated opposite these styles. Thus, the mechanic or the driver of the vehicle can, at any time, check whether the inscriptions carried by the styles are correct and in particular whether they coincide with the indications provided by the dial.
At the top of the device are mounted small lamps 16 (fig. 2 to 4) housed behind screw caps, 8 which, if necessary, allow said lamps to be changed without having to access the interior of the lamp. housing. The assembly of these lamps will be described later.
The lower part of the housing is provided with a door 9 comprising a locking device 10, the handle 10a of which can be sealed on a small yoke 10b, so as to prevent the unlawful opening of this door.
The door has a small window 11 which makes it possible to check the progress of the register tape.
On the right side of the case, a key 12 is used to wind the chronometric movement of the device and a button 13 is intended for setting the time of the 5th watch. If the device was electrically wound, key 12 would be deleted.
At the bottom of the apparatus is mounted an electric motor 14 intended to provide the main shaft of the apparatus with a movement proportional to the speed of the vehicle. This motor could be replaced by any other type of suitable transmission mechanism.
The necessary current is supplied to the device by cables 15.
Figs. 2 to 4 show how the lamps 16 which illuminate the dial 5 and the registration area of the paper strip are mounted in the housing 1 so that they can be changed without the mechanic having to open the housing.
For this purpose, at the rear of a threaded hole 17 normally closed by the plug 8, there is provided, on the wall of the housing, a small bracket 18 comprising a guide rod 19 on which a slide 20 can be fitted. move against a spring 21. The slide 20 carries, facing the hole 17, a socket 20a in which the lamp base is screwed.
If, as shown in fig. 2, the cap 8 is unscrewed, the slider 20 is pushed back by the spring 21 against the opening 17. The bulb of the lamp projects through this opening and the lamp can easily be unscrewed and another one screwed on again. When screwing on the cap 8, the latter pushes the bulb of the bulb back and brings it back to the lighting position in the housing (fig. 3).
In order to facilitate assembly, adjustment and testing of the device, the entire mechanism of the latter is carried by a main plate 22 fixed to the base plate of the housing, for example by means of screws not shown (fig. 5). ).
At its upper part, this plate carries the various mechanisms necessary for the operation of the apparatus and which can be of any type, in particular of the type described in the following Swiss patents by the applicant No. 348271 of October 29, 1957, in that concerns the speed measuring mechanism, and No. 347782 of July 8, 1959 if the winding is electric.
All of these mechanisms are included between plates. vertical 23 and 24 perpendicular to the plate 22. They receive their movement from a main shaft 25 mounted in bearings 26 of the plate 22 and comprising at its lower end a horse head mechanism 27, 28 leaving great freedom of assembly for a drive pinion 29, that of the motor 14 in the embodiment described, and allowing the shaft 25 to be shifted to the side to release the central part of the housing.
Under the mechanisms in question, between the plates 23 and 24, are mounted rails 30 and 31 with an H-profile on which can slide carriages 32 and 33 carrying, respectively, styles 6a and 6b.
The. style 6a, integral with the carriage 32, is moved according to the speed of the vehicle thanks to a pinion 34, wedged on the shaft of the speed needle 5b, and to a rack 35 fixed by screws 36 to the carriage 32. The style 66 carried by the carriage 33 is moved in a reciprocating motion at constant amplitude so as to trace chevrons on the strip 7, thanks to a drum 37, by means of a known mechanism not shown.
This mechanism also actuates a dial 38 for marking the date of the hour.
The plate 23 also carries, mounted in brackets 39 and 40, a shaft 41 intended for driving the strip of paper 7, said shaft being dragged, in a known manner, by means of two systems of pawls, of which one tends to drive it with a relatively slow uniform movement, for example corresponding to a movement of the strip of 5 mm per hour and the other at a speed proportional to that of the vehicle, the second mechanism becoming predominant when the vehicle is moving.
The strip of paper 7 is supplied to the apparatus by a charger 42 shown in detail in FIGS. 6 to 8. This strip is of the scratch-off type, styles 6 being simple metal spikes that are practically wear-resistant. The charger 42 comprises two plates 42a and 42b joined together by spacers 42c. At one end of each of the plates are articulated, on pins 43, small neck levers 44 recalled by springs 45 (Fig. 8) and which carry a roller 46, provided in the vicinity of its ends with grooves 46a .
A writing table 47 over which the strip of paper 7 passes is mounted between the plates 42a and 42b by means of screws 47a.
Below the table is mounted a guide roller 48 intended to limit the friction of the tape on the writing table.
The strip of paper 7 is supplied by a supply reel 49 mounted on a shaft 50 between the plates 42a and 42b. This coil (fig. 7) comprises a cheek 49a on which is keyed a cylindrical hub 49b carrying, in the vicinity of said cheek, a screw 49c and provided at its free end with a thread 49d in which the other cheek is screwed. 49th.
The roll of paper 7a is wound on a cardboard tube 7b which has at one of its ends a slot 7c in which the screw 49c engages, so as to make the roll integral in rotation with the spool.
The roll is mounted on the spool by unscrewing, then screwing the 49th cheek back.
The axis 50, tern-iné by a knurled button 50a, is engaged, on the one hand, in a bush 51 fixed to the plate 42a and, on the other hand, in a hole in the plate 42b. Its free end has a conical tip to facilitate its insertion both in the plates and in the coil.
In the vicinity of the button 50a, this axis has an annular groove 50b in which a small ball 51a of the socket 51 engages, hand held in place by an elastic ring 51b engaged in a groove 51c of this socket.
The plate 42a is also pierced with a hole through which passes a small buffer 42d carried by a spring 42e and intended to brake the coil 49.
From the reel 49, the strip of paper 7 passes over the roll 46 then over the table 47 and over the roll 48 before winding onto the take-up reel 52.
The latter comprises a tubular hub 52a pinned to a cheek 52b and to an axis 52c, said hub carrying a screw 52d intended, as for the supply reel, to cooperate with a slot 7d of the tube 7e for winding the band of paper. In a threaded end 52e of the hub 52a is screwed the second cheek 52f of the coil.
At one of its ends, the axle 52c carries a wheel 53 provided with a rubber tire 53a. The receiving coil 52 is interlocked between the 42a and 42b plates which have, for this purpose, notches 54 with triangular entry, the neighboring portions 55 of the plates also being folded outwards to facilitate insertion of the spool (fig. 6).
The axis 52c thereof is held at the bottom of the notches 54 by virtue of locking hooks 56 wedged on a shaft 57 mounted between the two plates and returned by a spring wound 58 on this axis and attached to the neighboring spacer 42c (fig. 8). The spring 58 recalls the hooks 56 on the stops 56a carried by the plates 42a and 42b (FIG. 6).
The end portion 56b of the beak of the hooks 56 is inclined so that said hooks are elastically erased when the axis of the coil 52 is inserted into the notches 54.
In the vicinity of the central 42nd spacer, the 42a and 42b plates furthermore have holes 59a and 59b intended to allow the charger to be hooked into the frame of the device as shown. in fig. 9 to 11.
In view of this attachment, the plate 23 com carries a small bridge 60 provided with a conical stud 60a while the plate 24 has a similar conical stud 60b.
To hang the magazine, we bring the hole 59b in front of the stud 60b then the hole 59a in front of the stud 60a which can be done, preferably, by placing the magazine in the raised and forgotten position as shown in phantom on the diagram. fig. 10, then rotating it according to arrow f (fig. 10).
To facilitate this maneuver, a little behind the studs 60b and 60a, stop and guide brackets 61a and 61b are used, arranged so that, when the edges of the plates are engaged in these brackets, the holes are located in front of the nipples.
The entire loader is then pushed back towards the plate 24, according to the arrow g of FIG. 10, to engage the holes 59a, 59b on the nipples 60a, 60b.
To bring the loader into the service position, it is then sufficient to tilt it backwards in the direction indicated by the arrow h in fig. 9.
In the event that this tilting is performed while the holes are not fully engaged on the pins, a small guide finger 62 is used on the plate 23 provided with a ramp 62a on which the edge of the plate 42a and which thus pushes the loader towards plate 24. This finger is visible in FIG. 11.
The charger is locked in the use position is ensured by a hook 63 (fig. 9). This hook pivots on an axis 63a of the plate 24, it is biased by a spring 63b against a stop 63e and cooperates with a bracket 64 carried by the plate 42b.
When the feeder 42 is thus locked, it is engaged with the various paper drive members.
These members include, on the one hand, a spiked roller 65 whose spikes 65a engage, through the paper, in the grooves 46a of the roller 46, as well as means for driving the receiving reel 52.
As shown in particular in FIG. 12, the axis 66 of the spiked roller 65 carries a helical wheel 67 engaged with a screw 41a carried by the shaft 41.
The shaft 66, the end of which is mounted in a bridge 68 fixed to the plate 23, also drives a pinion 69. A triangular part 70 is mounted loose on said shaft and subjected to the action of a spring 71, attached. moreover to a bridge 72 fixed to the plate 23.
The position of this bridge is such, moreover, that the knurled knob 50a of the axis of the supply coil 50 just engages therein, which means that, if said axis is not suitably engaged, it is not possible to bring the charger to the locked position. The end of the triangular piece 70 carries an axis 73 on which are wedged, on the one hand, a pinion 74 in engagement with the pinion 69 and, on the other hand, a wheel 75 which comes to bear, under the action of the spring 71, on the tire 53c of the wheel 53 of the receiving coil.
The operation of this drive mechanism is very simple. The shaft 41 rotates the spiked roller either at a slow speed when stationary or at a speed proportional to that of the vehicle and, under the effect of the rotation of the spiked roller, the strip of paper unwinds.
The mechanism 69, 70, 74, 75 causes the rotation of the take-up reel so that the paper web is always taut.
If the tension of the paper web becomes too high, there is a locking effect between the wheels 75 and 53 and, by reaction, the pinion 74 tends to roll on the pinion 69, which causes the lifting of the workpiece. 70 against the spring 71 and a slip of the wheel 75 on the wheel 53. It is therefore always ensured that the paper will be correctly tensioned.
As mentioned above, styles 6 write the desired information on strip 7 by scratching. As they trace these inscriptions, they therefore detach a certain amount of the coating which covers the strip, and this coating falls along said strip.
As can be seen in particular in FIG. 8, the take-up reel 52 is placed in the loader so that when the loader is in the service position, it is located below the writing table 47 on the same side as styles 6, with respect to to paper.
Thus, the material loosened from the strip of paper by the styles constantly falls between the portion of the strip leaving the writing table and the roll 7f which winds on the spool 52.
Under these conditions, without this in any way affecting the legibility of the inscriptions, the material detached by the styles is gradually stored in the roller 7f and no dust accumulates in the device, which allows the latter to operate for a very long time without cleaning.
In addition to styles 6a and 6b, the device has other styles visible in particular on the left of the fi-. 1 and used to give various indications such as repetitions of signals, recording of vigilance maneuvers, indications of the opening or closing of doors, etc ...
Figs. 13 and 14 show how these styles are assembled and ordered.
Under the upper mechanisms of the device, above the location for the charger, is mounted a bridge 76 whose rear edge 76a is fixed to a box 77, itself fixed to the main plate 22.
In the edges 76a and 76b of the bridge 76 is mounted a pin 78 at one end of which is wedged an arm 79 on which is articulated, by means of a pin 80, a lever 81 which carries the style 6, the tip of the latter naturally coming to bear on the writing table 47 at the desired location.
Between a finger 79a of the arm 79 and a finger 80a of the lever 80 is stretched a spring 90 which tends to bring a stop 80b of the lever 80 into contact with the arm 79a; when the loader is put in place, the sheet of paper 7 supported by the table 47 pushes the style 6 forward slightly, which provides the necessary application pressure of the style.
At the other end of the axis 78 is wedged an arm 82 having an extension 82a comprised between two electromagnets 83 and 84. A double-acting return device 85 is used to normally maintain the arm 82 in the middle position, while by allowing it to move away from one side or the other under the effect of the attraction of the electromagnets 83, 84.
The return device 85 essentially comprises two sliders 85a and 85b mounted, via buttonholes 85c and 85d, on fingers 86 fixed to the box 77. The slider 85a comprises a stop 85e and the slider 85b a stop 85f . These two stops are respectively placed on either side of the arm 82.
In addition, the slide 85a is provided with a finger 85g and the slide 85b with a finger 85h, between which a spring 85i is stretched. Under the effect of this res out, the stops 85e and 85f are kept applied to the arm 82, the buttonholes 85e and 85d being naturally arranged so as to leave the sliders the appropriate latitude of displacement.
When the electromagnet 83 is energized, the arm 82 rotates, together with the axis 78 and style 6, moving the slide 85a and, as soon as the excitation ceases, it is returned to the middle position by the spring 85i .
On the other hand, if it is the electromagnet 84 which is excited, the arm and the stylus rotate on the other side, by moving, this time the slide 85b, the return being effected by the spring 85i.
Style 6 can therefore be used to enter two different pieces of information depending on the direction in which it is deflected. Other styles can be fitted, in a manner analogous to that which has just been described, alongside the style shown in FIGS. 13 and 14. If necessary, if the corresponding electromagnet, housed in box 77, was too far from the hinge pin, a lever could be provided to transmit the control or return action to the arm. of said axis.
The particular arrangement and the mounting method of the charger make it possible to conveniently free up the space required for mounting the box 77 and the mechanisms connected to it, on the main plate 22.
