A cet effet,

Tachograph It is known that tachographs for vehicles include a device for writing on a support a mark corresponding to the running time or stopping time of this vehicle.
In some of them, the writing organ, which moves in a horizontal plane for example, is subjected to the shocks of a mass oscillating in a vertical plane and animated by the jerks of the vehicle in order to press said organ against its support so as to mark points or lines on it.
In other more modern types, the writing organ is constantly in contact with the support which has many advantages but it oscillates slightly in the plane of the latter, transversely to its advance, in order to mark a sufficiently large trace. . For this purpose,
the scripting member is kinematically connected to a mass oscillating against return springs when the vehicle is in motion in such a way that this member and the mass move in parallel planes.
When these tachographs are of the recording type on discs arranged parallel to the speedometer dial, they can however be installed on vehicles with a relatively low slope or even horizontal dashboard because of the plane of oscillation. of the mass is substantially horizontal and that its oscillatory movement must depend. only on the jerks of the vehicle and not on its various accelerations.
The present invention specifically relates to a tachograph for a vehicle comprising a device for writing on a support a trace corresponding to the running or stopping time of this vehicle, in which the writing organ of this trace is kinematically. integral with a mass oscillating around an axis free from return means when this vehicle is in motion and obviating the aforementioned drawbacks.
This tachograph is characterized by the fact that said member moves in a horizontal plane or slightly inclined with respect to the horizontal while said mass is arranged so as to oscillate in a vertical plane or slightly inclined with respect to the vertical.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example one embodiment of the object of the present invention. 1 is a view thereof in the open position. Figs. 2, 3 and 4 of the detail views.
The tachograph shown (fig. 1 and 2) comprises a housing 1 to which is fixed, in a hinged manner, at 2, a cover 3. In the housing are arranged tracer styli 4, 5 and 6, the ends of which appear through a slot 7 presented by a protective cover 8, not shown in FIG. 2.
These styluses are intended for writing on a set of disks 9, fixed to the housing, diagrams corresponding respectively to the speed measured by the tachograph, to the distance traveled and to the running and stopping time of this vehicle. On the cover are also fixed a shelf 10,
a selector member 11 provided with a stop 12 as well as a clockwork movement, not shown, for driving the bundle. These various elements as well as their functions are classic in modern tachographs and will not be described.
The driving of the tracer stylets 4 and 6 is controlled by mechanisms partially shown in fig. 2 and -described in Swiss patent No 372175.

The stylet 5 is integral with an elastic blade 13 integral with a fork 14 articulated on a plate 15 of the housing at 16, and between the teeth of which is engaged a rod 17 integral with one end of a lever 18.
This lever, which extends flush with the plate 15 below the blade 13 and the fork 14, is also articulated on this plate at 16.
Its other end, of slightly flared shape, ends in an arm 19 directed perpendicularly to the plate 15 and having a finger 20. In this end of the lever is also formed a circular opening 21 inside which is engaged a stud 22 integral with the plate 15.
This lever 18 is subjected to the action of two return springs 23 and 24, stretched on either side of its arm @ and mounted so as to maintain the lever in a position of equilibrium such as the stud 22. is centered in opening 21.
On the plate 15 also stands a vertical support 25 having a horizontal rod 26:
on which is engaged in an articulated manner a .douille 27 fixed to this .stem by an elastic element 28 engaged in a collar 29. On this sleeve is articulated an elbow lever 30 of which an arm 31 in the form of a fork is directed perpendicularly to the sleeve. the plate 15 while the second arm 32 makes an angle of 450 with the first and has a mass 33.
The fork of the arm 31 of this lever 30 is engaged with the finger 20 of the arm 19 so that during an oscillation of the mass 33 in the vertical plane, around the sleeve 27, the arm 19 moves in a corresponding oscillation in a plane parallel to that of the plate. The maximum amplitude of this oscillation is determined by the dimensions of the opening 21 and of the stud 22.
If the cover 3 is folded over the housing 1, the stylus 5 integral with the arm 19 draws on the. discs of the bundle a circular trace of a width corresponding precisely to the amplitude of the oscillation of this arm; when, on the other hand, the mass is immobile, the stylus 5 only draws a circular line.
In order for the stylus 5 to be able to draw a line on the litasse corresponding to the stopping and running times of the vehicles, the tachograph must be mounted on the dashboard of this vehicle so that the mass is first sensitive to jerking of the vehicle in motion and to a lesser extent to variations in acceleration. In particular, the mass should not be oriented perpendicular to the ground.
The particular arrangement of the mass allows the installation of such a tachograph in all types of instrument panel, whatever their inclination; it is in fact possible to adjust from case to case the equilibrium position of the lever 18 by acting on the springs 23 and 24, in order to compensate for the variation of the torque, determined by the vertical component of the weight of the mass, depending on the angular position of the tachograph.
In a variant, not shown, the mass could be mounted on a lever similar to that shown, but having means making it possible to vary at will the angle between the arm carrying the mass and that in the form of a fork which is integral with it. .
In this way, it would not be possible for example to maintain constant the orientation of the mass with respect to the horizontal whatever the angular position of the tachograph. In this case, we could also mount this tachograph with an inclination of 45o without the mass being in a vertical position.
The invention is not limited to what is described or shown: it will be understood that this tachograph could also be equipped with a device making it possible to modify the relative position of the stylus and of the mass, for example for inscribing on the diagram different parallel traces which may each correspond to the service time of a determined driver.
