Abstract
Agent for combatting blood-sucking arthropods (e.g. flies, mosquitoes, lice, bugs, fleas, ticks, mites) contain as active component >=1 cpd. of formula (I) (where R1 is is not >3C alkyl and R2 is 2-4C unbranched alkyl) or their salts.
Description
Als Beispiele solcher Insektizide seien u. a. folgende genannt:

The present invention relates to an agent for combating blood-sucking arthropods, which comprises at least one compound of the formula as the active component
EMI1.1
as a free base or in the form of a salt, in which R1 is an alkyl radical with up to 3 carbon atoms and R2 is a straight-chain alkyl radical with 2 to 4 carbon atoms.
The carbamates of the formula I can be prepared by the methods customary for the preparation of this body class - z. B.
by reacting a phenol of the formula
EMI1.2
with methyl isocyanate or methyl carbamic acid chloride or by reacting an aminophenyl carbonate or chlorocarbonate of the formula
EMI1.3
can be obtained with methylamine. Here, R1 and R2 have the abovementioned meaning or represent substituents which can be converted into these stated substituents by post-alkylation. X denotes a halogen atom, preferably chlorine.
The phenols required as intermediate products can be prepared in a known manner. For example, it is possible to alkylate o-aminophenol with alkyl or dialkyl sulfates, alkyl tosylates, alkyl halides, etc. in the amino group, it being possible for an acid-binding agent to be added. Another method consists in the reductive alkylation of o-nitro or o-aminophenol with aldehydes or ketones and catalytically activated hydrogen.
If R1 and R2 are not identical, the alkylation reactions must be carried out in two stages with different alkylating agents. Particularly pure o-monoalkylaminophenols are obtained from 1,3-benzoxazol-2-one by alkylation and subsequent saponification.
The sequence of the synthesis steps described so far up to the end product can also be changed and adapted to the specific properties of the carbamates. For example, you can first prepare the o-nitrophenyl carbonate or the o-nitrophenyl-N-methylcarbamate and reduce and alkylate them. In the latter case, the new carbamates are obtained directly; in the former case, a reaction with methylamine is necessary.
The active component can be present not only as a free base but also in salt form. Inorganic and organic acids can be used for salt formation, e.g. B.
Sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, oxalic acid, citric acid, methanesulfonic acid, toluenesulfonic acid, maleic acid, mono-, di- and trichloroacetic acid and others more. Acid salts, e.g. B. the acid sulfate, are characterized by particular stability.
Preferred active ingredients of the formula (I) are those in which R 1 represents a methyl, ethyl or propyl radical and R 2 represents an ethyl, propyl or n-butyl radical.
The novel carbamates of the formula (I) according to the invention show very good biocidal properties in the general control of insects and pests of the Acarina order, in each of their stages of development.
In this way, cicadas are destroyed with small amounts of application. Fruit flies are completely killed after 1 hour with concentrations of 2.5 ppm. However, carbamates generally have exceptional properties when it comes to destroying blood-sucking arthropods.
This group of pests is less subdivided into specific classes or orders, but primarily characterized and delimited by their behavior as parasites of warm-blooded animals.
Their effect on humans and animals is, in addition to the pure nuisance, that of potential pathogens (vectors) that cause infections or occur as intermediate hosts of pathogens.
The most important representatives would be flies (biting flies, cattle flies, tsetse flies, etc.), mosquitoes (yellow fever mosquito, malaria mosquito etc.), lice, bed bugs, fleas, as well as ticks and mites.
The latter representatives from the order Acarina are most important as ectoparasites for mammals and birds. But the other groups of pests mentioned also represent a constant and overwhelming threat to all animal husbandry, be it cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, poultry or other farm animals.
The compounds of the formula (I), alone or in compositions, show both contact and food poison effects on the pests to be controlled. For example, the 2-methyl-ethylamino) -phenyl-N-methylcarbamate and the 2-.
Diethylamino-phenyl-N-methylcarbamate, highly active against bed bugs like Rhodnius prolixus or Cimex lectularius, mosquitoes like Aedes aegypti or Anopheles stephensi, parasitic mites like Dermanyssus gallinae, ticks like Boophilus mirroplus, Amblyomma variegatum and others. As bases or in the form of their salts, especially the acid sulfates, the new carbamates are suitable as active components in bait mixtures for combating flies.
The new agents can be used in a variety of ways in solid, liquid or gaseous form, e.g. B. in the form of sprays, dust powders, emulsions, etc., can also be used in so-called fly plates or ribbons that are soaked with a solution of the active ingredients.
For the preparation of directly sprayable solutions of the compounds of general formula (I) come, for. B.
Mineral oil fractions of high to medium boiling range, such as diesel oil or kerosene, coal tar oil and oils of vegetable or animal origin, and hydrocarbons such as alkylated naphthalenes, tetrahydronaphthalene, optionally using xylene mixtures, cyclohexanols, ketones, and also chlorinated hydrocarbons such as trichloroethane and tetrachloroethane , Trichlorethylene or tri- and tetrachlorobenzenes. Organic solvents with a boiling point above 1000 ° C. are advantageously used.
Aqueous application forms are particularly expediently prepared from emulsion concentrates, pastes or wettable wettable powders by adding water. As emulsifying or dispersing agents, non-ionic products come into consideration, e.g. B. condensation products of aliphatic alcohols, amines or carboxylic acids with a long-chain hydrocarbon radical of about 10 to 20 carbon atoms with ethylene oxide, such as the condensation product of octadecyl alcohol and 25 to 30 moles of ethylene oxide, or that of technical oleylamine and 15 moles of ethylene oxide or that of dodecyl mercaptan and 12 Moles of ethylene oxide.
Among the anion-active emulsifiers that can be used are: the sodium salt of dodecyl alcohol sulfuric acid ester, the sodium salt of dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, the potassium or triethanolamine salt of oleic acid or abietic acid or mixtures of these acids, or the sodium salt of petroleum sulfonic acid. Quaternary ammonium compounds, such as cetylpyridinium bromide or dioxyethylbenzyldodecylammonium chloride, are suitable as cationic dispersants.
For the production of dusts and litter, for example to control mites in poultry, talc, kaolin, bentonite, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, but also coal, cork flour, wood flour and other materials of vegetable origin can be used as solid carriers. For special purposes, the production of the preparations in granulated form is recommended. The various application forms can be provided in the usual way by adding substances which improve the distribution, the adhesive strength, the rain resistance or the penetration capacity; These include: fatty acids, resin, glue, casein or alginates.
The agents according to the invention can be used on their own or together with customary pesticides, acaricides, nematocides, bactericides, fungicides, in particular insecticides.
Examples of such insecticides include: a. called the following:

The concentration of the agents used can vary within wide limits depending on the type of application.
It is generally from 0.01 percent by weight to 20 percent by weight for more dilute agents, while more concentrated agents have 20 percent by weight to 98 percent by weight of active ingredient. Highly concentrated preparations are used, for example, in the so-called ULV (ultra-low-volume) technique with the smallest amounts of additives. The ULV technique is used with ultra-fine atomizing spray devices, preferably with the help of aircraft.
The effect of the carbamates according to the invention can be further increased by synergists. For this are z. B.

Formulation examples dust
Equal parts of an active ingredient of the formula I and precipitated silica are finely ground. By mixing it with kaolin or talc, it can be used to produce dusts with preferably 1-6% active ingredient content.
Wettable powder
To produce a wettable powder, for example, the following components are mixed and finely ground: 50 parts of active ingredient of formula I 20 parts of highly adsorptive silica 25 parts of Bolus alba (kaolin)
3.5 parts of reaction product from p-tert-octylphenol and ethylene oxide
1.5 parts of 1-benzyl-2-stearyl-benzimidazole-6,3'-disulfonic acid sodium.
Emulsion concentrate
Highly soluble active ingredients of the formula I can also be formulated as an emulsion concentrate according to the following procedure: 20 parts of active ingredient 70 parts of xylene 10 parts of a mixture of a reaction product of a
Alkylphenols with ethylene oxide and calcium dodecylbenzene sulfonate are mixed. When diluting with water to the desired concentration, a sprayable emulsion is created.
granules
The following substances are used to produce 5% granules:
5 parts of active ingredient of formula I,
0.25 parts epichlorohydrin,
0.25 part of cetyl polyglycol ether,
3.50 parts of polyethylene glycol,
91 parts of kaolin.
The active substance is mixed with epichlorohydrin and dissolved with 6 parts of acetone, then polyethylene glycol and cetyl polyglycol ether are added. The solution obtained in this way is sprayed onto kaolin and the acetone is then evaporated in vacuo.
example 1
Action against mosquito females (Aedes aegypti) a) Concentration test
In Petri dishes with a diameter of 11 cm, female mosquitoes are placed on a coating of the substance to be tested for 6 hours. This coating is produced by treating the bottom of the dish with 1 ml of acetone substance solution and then drying it for one hour. Solutions with 1000, 100, 10 and 1 ppm are used, which corresponds to a concentration of 1, 0.1, 0.01 and 0.001 mg AS / shell (1 mg / shell 1 g / 9.4 m2). The mosquitoes are cooled in ice and counted in the bowls by 10 pieces. Do 4 repetitions per concentration. The evaluation takes place after 45, 90 and 360 minutes.
b) Time trial: testing of the minimum exposure time
1.9 ml of an acetone solution with 1000 ppm of active substance are evenly applied to a filter
