une lumière d faisant suite à la l@@mière d'. De part et d'autre de ces cieux lumières se trouvent des logements c1'' dl" oic sont disposées des pièces d'étan- chéit;ë < 1z d' servant à empêcher le passage (les gaz entre le segment d3 et l'anneau;
Internal combustion engine without valves. The object of the present invention is an internal combustion engine without blowers.
The distribution takes place in it, as in the engine claimed in the disclosure of the main Swiss patent N 78840 by means of a rotary member disposed inside the cylinder, entirely housed in the chamber <B> (the </B> combustion and comprising a cylindrical part which is applied against the peripheral wall of the cylinder. But it differs in that the cylindrical part mentioned above is constituted by a segment which is not is not subjected to the pressure prevailing in the combustion chamber.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the engine, consisting of four-stroke operating engines.
Fig. 1 is a partial vertical section of a first embodiment; Fig. 2 is a horizontal section through the broken line A-A of FIG. 1; Figs. 3, 4, 5 are a side elevation, a plane, a second side elevation ---- taken at <B> 901 </B> from the first --- of the rotary member of the second form of execution.
The first embodiment (fig. 1 and 2) comprises a cylinder consisting of a body n and a cylinder head b made of cast iron with one another. In the body a moves the piston which is not visible in the drawing and is connected by a connecting rod to the crank shaft. The body n e1; the cylinder head <I> b </I> are. fitted with a cooling jacket in which water circulates.
The cylinder head <I> b </I> has a space b 'of generally cylindrical shape, constituting the explosion chamber having rneme internal diameter as the body has and receiving the distribution member (l which is entirely housed in it.
The latter comprises a cylindrical segment of clans which is formed a light <I - arriving at a short distance from its lower and upper edges and connected to them by narrow slots dl; it is thus divided over its entire length. height at,
the location of the light d 'and can therefore be applied exactly by its own elasticity on the cylindrical wall of the explosion chamber b1. The segment (l2 is placed in an external annular groove dl of a ring d 'which is not in contact with this wall and which also presents
a light d following the light of. On either side of these light skies are housings c1 '' dl "oic are arranged sealing pieces; ë <1z d 'serving to prevent the passage (the gases between the segment d3 and the ring;
the housing d is furthermore provided part in this segment <B> dl, </B> part in this ring d, (the so that the sealing part d7, in engagement with the two, firstly because (its shape, then because of the centrifugal force which applies it against the outer bottom of the housing, causes d3 to participate in the rotational movement of d '. The latter is in fact animated.
a continuous rotational movement which takes place in the direction of the arrow in fig. ? and which successively brings the lights r1 = d opposite a light e, serving for the admission of the fresh explosive mixture, and a light f through which the exhaust of the combustion products takes place. For this purpose, The Ring is.
connected by screws i to the two arms of a screw j having a circular arrangement in its central part and integral with a shaft 1, passing through the bottom of the cylinder head b. The shaft 1c is set in motion by the crank shaft by means of transmission members, not shown, so that its speed is equal to half that of said shaft at my level.
The operation of the described embodiment of the engine is as follows: When the piston, not shown, moves up and down, the lights d2 <I> of </I> are brought opposite the intake port. e with which they correspond first partially, then entirely and again partially. The vacuum produced in the cylinder a - b by the descent of the piston, sucks during this time fresh explosive mixture by the light e. When the piston reaches lower dead center and goes up again, the lights <B> (It </B> cease to be in communication with this light e. But do not yet communicate with light f. The explosive mixture is compressed.
The piston, rising, reaches its upper dead center, then descends; an unspecified spark ignites the explosive mixture which relaxes by pushing the piston in front of it, which passes through its lower dead center. As a result of the continuous rotation of organ! I, the lights <I>d</I> <B> '</B> cl' 'then come to correspond with the light f and the escape takes place. the piston driving out of the cylinder by raising the combustion products. The same operations then begin again.
In this embodiment, the segment d = is applied to the wall of the explosion chamber b1 by its own elasticity and not under the effect of the pressures prevailing in this chamber. We can therefore choose to. there you are. force with which the application takes place and the. take relatively low, just sufficient to prevent gas leaks through the ports, so that the force required for driving the segment c12 is low.
The segment can be divided into several parts perpendicular to its axis: its driving can take place other than by one of the sealing parts. The sealing parts can be subjected to a determined action of the pressure prevailing in the explosion chamber, thanks to this ctu'on causes this pressure to act. through the ring of on the desired part of their faces.
Lubrication can take place as indicated in the main patent.
According to fig. 3 to 5, the lever j intended for:,. be connected to the drive shaft of the rotary organ came from manufacturing with the ring of. This presents above and below the light dl two semi-circular edges <I> dl '</I> d'2 subjected to the internal pressures prevailing in the explosion chamber.
To prevent the latter from feeling able to act from the outside to the inside along the entire height of the edges of the d12, the dxS <I> d l4 </I> housings are provided in them and receive segments not shown, semi-circular,
applying to the wall of the cylinder and held in place by dl 'towns. The inner surface of the two flanges dl 'dl "is chosen so that - after deduction of the part of the outer surface thereof,
on which the interior pressures can also act because not protected by the segments of the --- it is equivalent to the surface of the light% ll. It is thus possible to obtain that the internal pressures acting on the ring on either side of a diametral plane are exactly balanced both for the case where this plane passes through the vertical axis (the light as well as the when it is <B> at .90 Il </B> from this axis.
The two edges of the c112 produce an imbalance of the ring d5 that we understand by adding to it two internal counterweights dl <B> '</B> coming from manufacture with it, located on both sides. 'other of the diametral plane passing through the vertical axis of the light d' and symmetrically with respect to this plane. In this way, the weights of the parts of the ring located to the right and to the left of a diametral plane perpendicular to the diametral plane above, are exactly balanced. It follows that the distribution member is balanced on its <B> axis (the </B> rotation.
The engine may have one or more cylinders.
