Description
Process for dissolving organic substances, Liquid hydrogenated naphthalene is an excellent solvent and diluent for organic substances. In particular, it is suitable for dissolving all resins, oils, fats, waxes and some tar dyes used in industry and trade. In this capacity, it can replace turpentine oil in all of its technical uses.
First and foremost, 1 - 2 - 3 - 4-tetraltydronaphthalene is used as a solvent and diluent. Instead of the 1 - 2. 3-4 Tetrahydronaphthalene can also be used with other liquid, hydrogenated Naplitalins with similar solution ratios. A mixture of hydrogenated naphthalene can also be used.
The following examples may illustrate the use of liquid, hydrogenated naphthalene in place of turpentine oil.
A shoe paste can be produced which differs from the previously used one, only by partially or completely replacing the amount of turpentine oil contained therein with I .2 .3.4-tetrahydronaphthalene as a solvent. Such a new shoe paste has the advantage of your previously used product that it has an oxidative effect. Oxygen transfer does not take place, a circumstance that protects the leather from becoming hard, which otherwise easily occurs due to the oxidizing effect of turpentine oil.
You can also, for example, a new oil color in such a way that you for the otherwise often used mixture of 50 "file linseed oil varnish and 20 parts of terpene oil, a mixture of the same amount of linseed oil varnish and the same quantity of tetrahydronaphthalene instead of the solvent This mixture is processed in a known manner with a suitable dye, e.g. Permanent red B extra, mixed with barite or zinc white.
The oil color obtained in this way does not match that previously known with terpen- tiiiiii. A floor paint can also be prepared, for example, by dissolving 40 parts of ICo-Iopllonium in 100 parts of tetrahydronaphthalene.
