Les palettes f1, <I>f\, f<B>'</B></I> sont disposées dans des entailles du piston c qui débouchent sur les deux faces de celui-ci, de manière à per mettre le contact à frottement doux de ces palettes avec les couvercles b, b'. Lesdites palettes sont dirigées suivant des rayons du cylindre a, elles viennent porter à leur extré mité intérieure (c'est-à-dire opposée à la pé riphérie du cylindre) par un patin g1 ou g' ou g" contre un tourillon 1r implanté dans le fond b' suivant l'axe géométrique dudit cy iindre et par conséquent fixe dans l'espace;
Ces entailles sont donc prévues d'une largeur plus grande que l'épaisseur desdites palettes et celles-ci y sont maintenues à l'aide de rotules cylindriques fendues j1, j2, j3, dans lesquelles elles peuvent coulisser et qui peu vent elles-mêmes tourner à frottement doux dans des cavités correspondantes ménagée dans les entailles;
Ces dispositions permettent d'obtenir une étanchéité parfaite sans frottement nuisible: le fluide à refouler est en effet compris à l'intérieur d'une cavité formée par deux palettes consécutives (avec leurs ro tules), le piston, le cylindre et les deux cou vercles, et les contacts qui limitent cette ca- vité ont lieu à frottement doux entre les sur faces;
Rotary piston and vane macbine. The object of the invention is a rotary piston and vane machine which can serve as a key for liquid or gas pump, compressor, vacuum pump, motor, valve, meter, or for. any other use that allows. its arrangement under the simple condition of a suitable assembly, the arrangements which characterize it having the aim of increasing the seal without increasing the friction which would adversely affect the mechanical performance.
This machine is characterized by the fact that the vanes are mounted in such a way that they are and always remain, during the rotation of the piston, directed along the radii of the pump body, so that they are at their outer end constantly tan gentes. by a surface on the internal wall of this pump body, means being provided to prevent these vanes from being applied too strongly by centrifugal force to said wall. This method of contact between the ends of the vanes and the pump body ensures a more perfect seal than in the systems recommended up to now without increasing friction, because of the measures taken to limit the action of centrifugal force.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a rotary pump with eccentric piston constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. _ 1 is a vertical section of this pump made perpendicu lairement to its axis, the piston being represented only cut to its left part; fig. 2 is a horizontal section along the axis.
The cylinder or pump body a is closed by two covers <I> b, b '</I> forming bottoms; the hollow piston c, also cylindrical, is eccentric. It is held in the two bottoms, on the bottom side b (control side) in a bore forming a bearing which supports it externally, and on the bottom side b 'by a boss also forming a bearing which supports it internally. The drive shaft d: which passes through the stuffing box forming the shaft bearing is made integral with the piston by a device with long keys e allowing a slight relative sliding (fig. 2). _.
This sliding key is of the type described in Swiss patent No <B> 91027 </B> of the same name. Its purpose is to remove the piston from the influence of the end thrust on the shaft which results from the internal and external pressure differences and which is then absorbed by a thrust washer on which the shaft rests. through the heels of the long keys; this washer can be replaced by a thrust ball bearing.
The vanes f1, <I> f \, f <B> '</B> </I> are arranged in notches in the piston c which open out on both faces of the latter, so as to allow the contact to be made. gentle friction of these pallets with the covers b, b '. Said pallets are directed along radii of cylinder a, they come to bear at their inner end (that is to say opposite to the periphery of the cylinder) by a pad g1 or g 'or g "against a journal 1r implanted in the bottom b 'along the geometric axis of said cylinder and therefore fixed in space;
these pads are held against 1 @ journal by rings i. i. ' which bury them on either side. In short, the pallets are articulated on the journal 1t- and, as the latter is arranged along the axis of the cylinder. they always remain, in the rotation in which the piston drives them, arranged radially to this cylinder; they therefore do not attack the internal wall thereof along a line, but they are exactly tangent to this wall throughout. surface of their outer end, and that. throughout the rotation; this obviously results in a much more perfect seal and the elimination of the possibilities of jamming.
On the other hand, the rings i. i. ' limit the movement of the pallets, under the action of the centrifugal force which tends to apply them against the. periphery of the cylindra and they form an integral whole such that the effect of the centrifugal force on one of them is sensibly balanced by the set of effects on the other two. It suffices to adjust suitably the length of the pallets and the adjustment of the rings to obtain between the pallets and the. wall of the cylinder sufficient contact to ensure the seal without creating friction harmful to the mechanical efficiency of the pump.
One realizes that, during roasting, the paddles which are not directed along the radii of the piston, have in relation to the notches of the latter in which they move, not only a longitudinal movement, but also a angular displacement.
These notches are therefore provided with a width greater than the thickness of said pallets and they are held there by means of slotted cylindrical ball joints j1, j2, j3, in which they can slide and which themselves little wind. rotate gently in corresponding cavities made in the notches;
these 'ball joints ensure the maintenance of the pallets by allowing them to move longitudinally and angularly flanks the notches to always remain radial to the cylinder, moreover they prevent any communication through the interior of the piston between the suction pipes kh' and of repression.
These arrangements make it possible to obtain a perfect seal without harmful friction: the fluid to be delivered is in fact included inside a cavity formed by two consecutive vanes (with their valves), the piston, the cylinder and the two necks. vercles, and the contacts which limit this cavity take place with gentle friction between the surfaces;
the volume of the liquid contained in this cavity is transported from one tube to the other by the rotation of the piston. Moreover at the lower part, at the point where the piston is tangent to the cylinder, it is also possible to ensure contact along a surface, by making a slight penetration of the first clans the second.
It should be noted that on the side of the bottom b 'due to the presence of the boss, the piston cut by the notches no longer forms a complete circular arc and rests on this boss by means of a circular arc; it may be necessary, in high speed pumps, to shrink the piston at this point to prevent it from bursting under the action of the central trifugal force. The provisions described above can be applied regardless of the use and operating mode of the device.
